PSUT’s Debating Club Wins First Place among Jordanian Universities at the “Rasheed for Integrity and Transparency Championship”
The Debating Club from Princess Sumaya University for Technology was crowned champion at Jordan’s second debating tournament, in a competition contested by 16 public and private Jordanian universities. The competition was organized by the British Council in Jordan and the Rasheed Coalition for Integrity and Transparency as part of a regional project called "Young Arab Voices”.
The President of PSUT, Professor Mashhoor Al-Refai, expressed his pride in the successive achievements of the University’s students in all aspects of academic and extra-curricular activity, and their ability to obtain top rankings in a wide range of local and international forums. PSUT focuses on extra-curricular activities by lending support to the University’s many student clubs, in response to directives from HRH Princess Sumaya bint El Hassan, Chair of the Board of Trustees, to hone the students’ skills, broaden their intellectual horizons, and encourage their creativity. In this way, we can produce a generation of knowledgeable young people who know what they want and are ready to contribute to the decision-making process in solving social issues.
Prof. Al-Refai also stated that the Debating Club has qualified to participate in Qatar’s Fourth Arabic Language University Debating Championship which will be held in Qatar between the 6th and 13th of April, 2017.
Prof. Al-Refai thanked the students, members of the Debating Club, and everyone at PSUT’s Deanship of Student Affairs who contributed to making this achievement possible.
The Debating Club team was crowned after defeating teams from the University of Jordan and Zarqa Private University, who took second and third places respectively. The event was attended by Dr. Rami Salem the Dean of Student Affairs, a number of students and members of the Club.
