Engineering students at Princess Sumaya University for Technology have begun to present their graduation projects. 22 projects will be under discussion at the King Abdullah II School of Engineering in the specializations of Electrical, Communications, and Computer Engineering.

The President of the University, Prof. Mashhoor Al-Refai, accompanied the Dean of the School of Engineering, Dr. Khaldoun Abu Gharbieh, and a number of the School’s department heads as they took a tour of the graduation projects in engineering design on display in the laboratories.

Prof. Al-Refai expressed his pleasure and pride in the presentation methods adopted in the defense of the projects, which are those followed in international universities and fall within the criteria of the international accreditation organization, ABET, which sets the parameters regarding the environment and practical conditions of engineering design projects. The projects were presented in an engineering exhibition at the Innovation Lab which is open to students outside normal working hours, where the product, which was designed with the support of some companies and industrial establishments, was presented one day before the defense process began.

The Dean of the King Abdullah II School of Engineering, Dr. Abu Gharbieh, pointed to the most outstanding engineering projects put forward this year, which include:

A project to design and simulate a support network using UAVs for use in current and future communications systems; a project to design and develop an automated attendance system for use in lecture halls; a project to design a high-energy system for residential buildings using renewable energy;

a project to design an integrated circuit which gives constant voltage with heat.

It is possible that these projects could be published as scientific research papers in journals as well as being presented at international conferences.
