Admission Requirements

Admission of Jordanian students:

PSUT offers the opportunity of admission to all Jordanian students who meet the admission requirements. The University offers great incentives to students who excel academically, athletically and culturally.

Admission of foreign students:

PSUT welcomes the admission of international students from all over the world in accordance with the conditions of study at the University, providing them with all the requirements to continue their studies. The area around the campus has many accommodation options available to student guests from around the world, with something to suit all needs.

The area around the campus provides an inspiring learning environment where many students from around the world, especially neighboring countries, are able to travel to their countries and regions by air or land within a few hours, making it easier for them to stay in touch with their families and friends.

The Deanship of Student Affairs also provides a service to obtain residence permits in the Kingdom, as well as entry and exit visas.

 Admission requirements for Bachelor’s programs:

Applicants for admission to the University must meet the following basic admission requirements:

1-      The student must have a Jordanian General Secondary School Certificate or equivalent.

2-      Students must have obtained an average of not less than 70% in the General Secondary School Certificate examinations to attend the King Hussein School of Computing Sciences and King Talal School of Business and Technology, and not less than 80% in the General Secondary School Certificate to join the King Abdullah II School of Engineering.

3-The admission system at the University is based on competition subsequent to passing the entrance examination. Students with higher averages have a greater chance of admission.

4-The student must submit an application to the Deanship of Admissions and Registration and complete all the required documents on the specified dates. The application fee is non-refundable.

5-The applicant shall specify the specializations according to School, arranged according to the priority of his / her desired course of study.

6-The students chosen for admission will be distributed among the Schools of the University according to the specified numbers set for admission into each School based on the receptive capacity of each study program, and according to the students’ expressed priorities, and the sequence of their averages. Admission shall be on a competitive basis.

7-Students must not have been expelled from Princess Sumaya University for Technology or any other university for disciplinary or academic reasons.

8-The student's meeting of the admission requirements in the proposed specialization and submission of the application does not mean admission to the University. Final admission is obtained when the student meets the competition criteria and passes the University's entrance examination. At that point, the fixed study fees are payable.

b.  1. Holders of the US High School Certificate (SAT):

·  The student should have completed 12 years of study prior to obtaining the secondary school certificate and should submit official proof of such.

· The certificate obtained by the student must be certified by the Ministry of Education in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

b.  2. Holders of the British Secondary School Certificate (GCE, GCSE, IGCSE):

·  The student should have completed 12 years of study prior to obtaining the secondary school certificate and should submit official proof of such.

· The certificate obtained by the student must be certified by the Ministry of Education in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

b.  3. Holders of  the Swiss Secondary School Certificate (IB):

·The student should have completed 12 years of study prior to obtaining the secondary school certificate and should submit official proof of such.

·  The certificate obtained by the student must be certified by the Ministry of Education in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

Note:

  •  The study plan for specializations in the King Hussein School of Computing Sciences and the King Talal School of Business Technology is comprised of 132 credit hours.
  • The study plan for specializations in the king Abdullah II School of Engineering is comprised of 160 credit hours.

Required academic qualifications:

Admission to a Bachelor's degree program is dependent upon the student’s holding a High School Certificate, as follows:

 a. Holders of a Jordanian High School Certificate:

A student who has a certificate from within the Kingdom must be a graduate of a licensed school recognized by the Ministry of Education in the Kingdom. The student must submit a certified copy of the certificate of completion of secondary school, with a detailed transcript of the grades obtained in the subjects of study. These documents must be certified by both the school where the student studied in the Kingdom and the Jordanian Ministry of Education.

 b.  Holders of a High School Certificate from outside Jordan:

 Students who have obtained certificates from outside the Kingdom must have graduated from a licensed school recognized by the Ministry of Education in the country of study, and must submit a certified copy of the certificate of completion of secondary school with a detailed transcript of the grades obtained in the subjects of study. These documents must be certified by the Ministry of Education in the country of study, then the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the country of study, then the Embassy of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in the country of study, or the Embassy of that country, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. Please note the following:

Terms of transferring from other universities to one of Princess Sumaya University of Technology colleges

Transfer requests from students studying at other universities or community colleges or institutes recognized by the Jordanian Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research are accepted and with the following requests:

• The student must have successfully completed at least a one semester study in a recognized University, with a grade not less than 60%.

• Student has a high school diploma or equivalent with the required average and meet the requirements for admission of the university and the faculty Conditions.

• Available vacancies in the college that the student wishes to transfer to in light of its acceptance plan which it is set out by the policy framework for university enrollment.

• It is required for accepting a transferring student that he is coming from a university that takes attendance, and he should not be expelled from university for academic disciplinary measurements.

• It is possible and with a resolution from the Faculty Council and upon a recommendation from the Department to include all or some of the required courses studied by the student successfully, provided that his average in each is not less than (50%) and where the cumulative average is not less than (60%).

• Maximum credit hours that may be equated and transferred from other recognized  university and according to the student`s study plan at the Princess Sumaya University of Technology is (66) credited hours in all colleges except the College of Engineering, where no more than (80) credit hours may be equated and transferred.

• Grades, estimates or averages in the transferred courses do not count in the cumulative average.

Measurements of equation courses for students transferring from other universities

Any transferred student may equate courses studied at former university and subject to the following:

  1. Provide a transcript showing the courses studied at the former university duly certified by the Jordanian Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
  2. Provide certified Course studied at the former University.
  3. Present a certificate of good conduct from the previous university.

Where the student submitting an application to equate courses to the Admission and Registration Deanship with the previously mentioned attached documents, the student will identifies courses that he wants to equate.

Visiting students (private - schooling system without a degree)

Enrolled students in other educational institution wish to study some courses in any of the classrooms in Princess Sumaya University of Technology are allowed enrollment as visitors students without a degree and under the following: conditions:

• Students of special studies are not granted any degree from Princess Sumaya University of Technology.

• Student fees are doubled compared to regular students.

• Students are allowed to register courses after application submission and payment of the prescribed fee, knowing that he is not entitled to recover tuition fees.

• Students wishing to study as visitor students in fall, spring or summer can submit their request to the Admission and Registration Deanship.

Postpone enrollment

*Accepted student in an academic college can register courses at the beginning of each semester, and during the period prescribed in the academic calendar.

• Students registration will be terminated if his registration procedures are not completed, or if he did not apply to postpone admission. Student will not be entitled for tuition recovery when courses start.

Acceptance mechanism

Students wishing to enroll in the university can identify the stages of the admission:

Submission stage

• Submitting enrollment application on time by visiting the Admission and Registration Deanship at Princess Sumaya University for Technology.

• The applicant must present a high school diploma certified by the Jordanian Ministry of Education.

• Applicants have to fill in all personal and academic data required in enrollment application.

• Applicants need to choose the program he wishes to join and arrange his wishes accordingly.

• You can apply online through

www.psut.edu.jo.

Application Confirmation stage

• Application confirmation has a limited period (several dates determined by the university). Application must be confirmed during that period.

• Collage registrar makes sure that the required documents for admission meet the requirements dully.

• Application Non confirmation means termination for enrollment request by the university.

• The applicant must follow-up on his application through the university`s website and ensure the completion of all stages until the university ID is issued.

Screening stage and announce candidates for admission:

Result will appear in the University's website and an e-mail or an SMS text if possible will be send.

Stage of registration:

* submitting the required documents (General Certificate of Secondary Education + Identification + picture)

*Issuance of a university ID card.

*The student is provided by a notice of acceptance so as to pay financial dues.

A copy of acceptance form will be send to the Student Affairs Deanship to get the student`s ID, a copy to the library and a copy to the health center.

*The student should see the Admission and Registration Deanship to set his schedule, his academic halls numbers and times of lectures, and to receive a printed copy of that.

*The student is to schedule for Arabic language level test, English language level test and computer skills level test, where he will have the test in the specified time and place stated by the Admission and Registration Deanship. In case the student did not pass the level test, then he should register for a corrective course for that level for that specified subject.

*Foreign students should see Student Affairs Deanship to complete residency procedures.

Required documents

A- General documents

1- Original copy of high school certificate transcript or equivalent, certified by the Jordanian Ministry of Education.

2- Original birth certificate certified, or a certified copy.

3-A certified copy of Civil Status identification, or a certified copy of the passport (for non-Jordanians).

4- Three up to date color photographs.

5- A copy of military service book (Jordanian students).

B: Additional documents for students holding a foreign certificate

1- An equivalency certificate of high school certificate from the Ministry of Education in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

2- Copies of the tenth, eleventh, twelfth grade and the high school certificate (graduation certificate) certified dully.

  3- Students holding degrees from abroad should bring approved evidence of acceptance in public universities in the country where the certificate was issued, or a high school certificate equated from the Jordanian Ministry of Education.

C. Additional documents for students transferring from other universities

 1-An official transcript certified by the Jordanian Ministry of Higher Education.

2- A certified copy of Course Description from the previous university.

 3- For students from outside the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, they are required to submit a certificate of acknowledgment of student's previous university from the Jordanian Ministry of Higher Education and scientific research.

Important notes about the submitting

*The student must fill out the enrollment application by himself, he is responsible for the accuracy of data, and uncompleted application will not be considered.

* Student is responsible for completion of all procedures required for stages of acceptance on designated time according to instructions and according to the academic calendar, the university will be responsible for the completion of the procedures in case the  student is behind schedule.

 Delay may have a negative impact on his studies; all students should visit the university's Web site (www.psut.edu.jo) to find out the dates and places of acceptance tests, personal interviews, and to check on results.

*Admission is valid only to applied semester .Admission application is canceled in case of student`s default.

*All documents submitted for enrollment are the property of the university, and student has no right to claim of any document after submission.

*University is not responsible for applications of scholarships, and students should check with provider.

* Applications submitted after the end of the specified period for admission will not be considered for enrollment.  

*The university has the right to increase tuition fees.

Certificate Authentication:

A- Authentication in the source country (outside Jordan)

*certifying the high school diploma from the Ministry of Higher Education in the source country.

* certifying the certificate from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the source country.

* certifying the certificates from the Jordanian embassy in the source country.

B. Certifying in Jordan

* certifying the high school diploma or its equivalent from the Jordanian Foreign Ministry.

*certifying the high school diploma or its equivalent from the Jordanian Ministry of Education.
