Sunday, March 26, 2017 - 11:30

The Amman Chamber of Commerce (ACC) and Princess Sumaya University for Technology (PSUT) signed a Memorandum of Understanding regarding the organization of training programs to build and develop the capabilities and skills of the members of the Amman Chamber of Commerce, their employees and those interested in trade and business inside and outside the Kingdom. These courses will be run in accordance with the highest standards of quality and integrity.

The agreement was signed by HE Senator Issa Haider Murad on behalf of the ACC and by the President of PSUT Prof. Mashhoor Al-Refai, in the presence of senior Chamber officials, the general manager and officials of the ACC Training Academy, as well as University Vice President Prof. Mohammed Mismar, a number of the University Deans, the Director of the Computer Training Center, and the CFO of the University. The President of the ACC, Senator Issa Haider Murad expressed his deep satisfaction at the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with PSUT which enjoys a distinguished reputation both regionally and internationally.

Senator Murad said that the ACC is making great efforts to work with Jordan's higher education institutions and universities in arranging joint training programs at the ACC for Jordanian students and members of the general public, in order to accelerate the development process and assist Jordanian citizens and employees to reach high standards whereby they can perform their work duties in the required competent and professional manner.

Murad pointed out that the ACC is working hard to improve available training resources. To reach this aim, the Chamber has established the ACC Training Academy which is equipped with the latest equipment and laboratories, and run by a highly-qualified staff possessed of the necessary expertise to hold training courses and workshops, providing certificates accredited by the top universities, in addition to international programs which receive external academic accreditation at a regional and global level.

The President of PSUT, Prof. Mashhoor Al-Refai, and the accompanying delegation looked at the various services provided by the ACC, one of the most important of which is the “one-stop service” for members of the private sector. The Chamber of Commerce has become an outstanding service center for members of the public to visit and carry out all of their transactions with Greater Amman Municipality, the Ministries of Justice, Foreign Affairs, Industry, Trade and Labor, and the Department of Lands and Surveying, in one place in a short period of time.

The delegation from PSUT toured the facilities of the ACC Training Academy and the members expressed their admiration for the technological advancements found at the Academy, which has become one of the most important national facilities for both training and employment.

The Amman Chamber of Commerce Training Academy was established last year and was, within a brief period of time, capable of holding more than 100 training programs and specialized workshops in various fields, not to mention finding employment for more than 1,000 job seekers through the vocational rehabilitation project.

Senator Murad invited PSUT to have students of all specializations participate in the Chamber’s training programs, as well as in the seminars, workshops and economic meetings held by the ACC.

For his part, the President of the PSUT, Prof. Mashhoor Al-Refai, expressed how much he valued this cooperation, which reflects positively on the University's efforts to create and implement new programs to provide the labor market with high quality university graduates. He also stated his appreciation of the opportunity to design and develop specialized training programs that contribute to improving employee performance, and being able to benefit from the scientific and practical experiences of the employees of both parties in the fields of training, teaching, and consultancy. All of this embodies the vision of HRH Princess Sumaya bint El Hassan, Chairman of the Board of Trustees at PSUT, to bridge the gap between the outputs of education and the needs of the labor market, as well as promoting technology and innovation in the industrial development process, which contributes to the promotion of economic growth by creating more jobs to meet the needs of the local labor market with outstanding practical and academic qualifications.

The Memorandum of Understanding also covers the exchange of experience in the fields of training program design and evaluation, collaboration in conducting studies and research projects in fields and topics of common interest, in addition to cooperation in offering specialized consultancy services. The joint training programs will be marketed and held in cooperation between the two teams.
