Placement Tests

 

Level test :

Level tests are aimed to determine the level of student in Arabic language, English language and computer skills, and courses of study will be determined in the light of the result obtained by the student. Note that these tests have nothing to do with accepting the student but rather with courses registered in the first quarter and his regularity at the university. 

 

1- English proficiency test

All students and upon enrollment undergo a level test in English language at the dates set by the university to measure their basic skills, exam mark ranging from (zero - 100%).

In case the student get`s less than (50%) in the English language level test, or did not have the   test in the first academic year, then he should study and on regular bases for one semester an extra 3 credited hours course (31 029) which will not be included in the accumulative average nor it will be counted in the number of hours required for graduation. The student will undergo an examination in this course that will qualify him to register for English course number (31121) if passed.

 

2-Arabic language level test

All students and upon enrollment will undergo a level test in Arabic language in the dates set by the university to measure their basic skills, exam marks ranging from (zero - 100%).

In case the student get`s less than (50%) in the Arabic language level test, or did not have the test in the first academic year, then he should study and on regular bases for one semester an extra 3 credited hours course number (31 019) which will not be included in the accumulative average nor it will be counted in the number of hours required for graduation. The student will undergo an examination in this course that will qualify him to register for Arabic course number (31121) if passed.

 

3- Computer skills level test

All students and upon enrollment will undergo a level test in Computer skills in the dates set by the university to measure their basic skills, exam marks ranging from (zero - 100%).

In case the student get`s less than (50%) in the Computer skills level test, or did not have the test in the first academic year, then he should study and on regular bases for one semester an extra 3 credited hours course number (11100) which will not be included in the accumulative average nor it will be counted in the number of hours required for graduation. The student will undergo an examination in this course that will qualify him to register in his study plan if passed.

Student with (ICDL) certificate or equivalent will not undergo computer skills level test.

 

4- Mathematics level test:

All students at the King Hussein School for Computing Science with a high school certificate informatics stream and upon enrollment have to undergo a mathematics level test at the dates set by the university to measure their basic skills, exam mark ranging (zero - 100%).

In case the student get`s less than (70%) in the mathematics level test, or did not have the test in the first academic year, then he should study and on regular bases for one semester an extra 3 credited hours course number (20100) which will not be included in the accumulative average nor it will be counted in the number of hours required for graduation. The student will undergo an examination in this course that will qualify him to register in mathematics (1) course number (20132) if passed.

 

* Note: The student may undergo a level test during his first academic year, and he also can schedule the level test through the website or through a special registrar in the Admission and Registration Deanship.
