PSUT has maintained its top position in the Competency Exam set by the HEAC for the 2016/2017 academic year, in line with the directives of HRH Princess Sumaya bint El Hassan, Chair of the University’s Board of Trustees, to put PSUT among the ranks of the best international universities. The institution’s mission is to graduate outstanding students and provide the local and global labor markets with a generation of conscious and creative young people who have faith in their homeland and nation.

The University's journey of success and achievement continues as PSUT remains at the forefront of public and private universities in the general portion of the exam, in addition to taking first place in Computer and Engineering disciplines, and fifth place in the field of Business Administration at the intermediate level.

The University took first place on the detailed level of the test in the specializations of Computer Graphics and Animation, Software Engineering, Communications Engineering, Electrical Power and Energy Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electronic Engineering, e-Marketing and Social Media, Management Information Systems and Business Information Technology. PSUT occupied third place in the specializations of Business Administration and Accounting, and fourth in the field of Computer Science. The majors in which PSUT gained top ranking on the detailed level constitute 75% of the courses offered by the University.

It is worth mentioning that the University has continued to maintain an excellent performance record in this exam since 2004, taking first place in the Jordanian University Competency Exam for the discipline of Computer Science in both 2005 and 2006, leading up to this year when it was crowned as the top Jordanian university on the general level of the test.

PSUT is exceptional among its peers because it runs an admissions exam for all of its majors, as is common practice in the top universities worldwide, with the aim of accepting only the best students. The University was awarded the Decoration of Independence, First Class, in recognition of the advanced standards that it has achieved, on both the national and regional scene, since it was established in 1991. PSUT has also made outstanding contributions in developing the sectors of Information Technology, Communications, and Business in Jordan, by introducing majors exclusive to the University and excelling in both academic and research endeavors as well as providing the local, regional and global labor markets with highly-competent graduates boasting scientific and technical competencies. In addition, the University focuses on international programs and internationally shared programs which are carried out in association with international and local universities. The University has also obtained international accreditation for four programs in the fields of Engineering and Computer Science.

In the last four years, four PSUT students have been selected for training at NASA International Laboratories under the initiative of HRH Crown Prince Hussein Bin Abdullah II. A team recently represented the University at the ACM Arab Programming Competition at Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, taking first prize against a field of 100 teams from the Arab world. It also achieved excellent results in various programming competitions, most notably when a team from the University recently ranked first in the Arab world and eighth internationally in the IEEE-Xtreme 24-hour Programming Competition.

The President of the University, Prof. Mashhoor Al-Refai, congratulated the PSUT family, including faculty members, administrative staff, and students for this remarkable success and the clear determination to maintain the lead in the results of the Competency Exam as well as keeping the University at the forefront by continuing its story of outstanding progress. Prof. Al-Refai expressed his thanks to the Deans of the University’s Schools, the Director of the Center for Quality Assurance, Dr. Muhanna Muhanna, the heads of the academic departments, the loyal university students, and all who contributed to this new achievement.
