Admission of Jordanian students
PSUT offers the opportunity of admission to all Jordanian students who meet the admission requirements. The University offers great incentives to students who excel academically, athletically and culturally.
Admission of foreign students
PSUT welcomes the admission of international students from all over the world in accordance with the conditions of study at the University, providing them with all the requirements to continue their studies. The area around the campus has many accommodation options available to student guests from around the world, with something to suit all needs.
The area around the campus provides an inspiring learning environment where many students from around the world, especially neighboring countries, are able to travel to their countries and regions by air or land within a few hours, making it easier for them to stay in touch with their families and friends.
The Deanship of Student Affairs also provides a service to obtain residence permits in the Kingdom, as well as entry and exit visas.
Admission requirements for Bachelor’s programs
Applicants for admission to the University must meet the following basic admission requirements:
1- The student must have a Jordanian General Secondary School Certificate or equivalent.
2- Students must have obtained an average of not less than 70% in the General Secondary School Certificate examinations to attend the King Hussein School of Computing Sciences and King Talal School of Business and Technology, and not less than 80% in the General Secondary School Certificate to join the King Abdullah II School of Engineering.
3- The admission system at the University is based on competition subsequent to passing the entrance examination. Students with higher averages have a greater chance of admission.
4- The student must submit an application to the Deanship of Admissions and Registration and complete all the required documents on the specified dates. All students must pay a non-refundable application fee.
5- The applicant shall specify the specializations according to School, arranged according to the priority of his / her desired course of study.
6- The students chosen for admission will be distributed among the Schools of the University according to the specified numbers set for admission into each School based on the receptive capacity of each study program, and according to the students’ expressed priorities, and the sequence of their averages. Admission shall be on a competitive basis.
7- Students must not have been expelled from Princess Sumaya University for Technology or any other university for disciplinary or academic reasons.
8- The student's meeting of the admission requirements in the proposed specialization and submission of the application does not mean admission to the University. Final admission is obtained when the student meets the competition criteria and passes the University's entrance examination. At that point, the fixed study fees are payable.
Required academic qualifications
The conditions for a student’s admission to a Bachelor's degree program demand that he/she must hold a Secondary School Certificate, as follows:
a. Holders of a Jordanian Secondary School Certificate
A student who has a certificate from within the Kingdom must be a graduate of a licensed school recognized by the Ministry of Education in the Kingdom. The student must submit a certified copy of the certificate of completion of secondary school, with a detailed transcript of the grades obtained in the subjects of study. These documents must be certified by both the school where the student studied in the Kingdom and the Jordanian Ministry of Education.
b. Holders of a Secondary School Certificate from outside Jordan
Students who have obtained certificates from outside the Kingdom must have graduated from a licensed school recognized by the Ministry of Education in the country of study, and must submit a certified copy of the certificate of completion of secondary school with a detailed transcript of the grades obtained in the subjects of study. These documents must be certified by the Ministry of Education in the country of study, then the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the country of study, then the Embassy of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in the country of study, or the Embassy of that country, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. Please note the following:
Holders of the US High School Certificate (SAT)
• The student should have completed 12 years of study prior to obtaining the secondary school certificate and should submit official proof of such.
• The certificate obtained by the student must be certified by the Ministry of Education in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
Holders of the British Secondary School Certificate (GCE, GCSE, IGCSE)
• The student should have completed 12 years of study prior to obtaining the secondary school certificate and should submit official proof of such.
• The certificate obtained by the student must be certified by the Ministry of Education in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
Holders of the Swiss Secondary School Certificate (IB)
• The student should have completed 12 years of study prior to obtaining the secondary school certificate and should submit official proof of such.
• The certificate obtained by the student must be certified by the Ministry of Education in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
Important note: Any student who holds a non-Jordanian nationality and holds a non-Jordanian secondary school certificate needs a letter from the University to the Jordanian Ministry of Education in order to complete the certificate equivalency procedures.
Holders of Diploma Certificates (enrolling in university bridging programs)
1. Students (from inside Jordan) who are interested in bridging and who have a community college diploma (comprehensive) are accepted with an average of not less than (75%) in the University’s Schools, except for Engineering majors which require a minimum average score of 85% where the diploma equates to 55 hours only.
2. Students from outside Jordan who are interested in bridging and who have a community college diploma are accepted, provided that they submit to the University an official letter from the Ministry of Higher Education in the country in which the student gained the diploma, or from the Embassy of the student’s home country in Jordan, stating that the diploma qualifies the holder to continue his/her university education to the Bachelor’s in his/her home country. Alternatively, the student can obtain an equivalency certificate from the Jordanian Ministry of Higher Education, where the diploma equates to 55 hours only, with the required average score for Engineering majors is 85% and 75% for other disciplines.
