Emphasizing the importance of scientific research, the President of PSUT meets with new faculty members

The President of Princess Sumaya University for Technology Prof. Mashhoor Al-Refai, used visual technology to meet with new faculty members joining the University at the start of the 2020/2021 academic year during a three-day introductory activity organized by PSUT’s Quality Assurance and Accreditation Center.

The President began his speech by saying: "We warmly welcome you as you join this academic edifice that enjoys a great global reputation. We look forward to you becoming our partners in achievement and reaping success and excellence, and your being a valuable addition to both the University and the nation."

Al-Refai stated that the directives of HRH Princess Sumaya bint El Hassan, Chair of the University's Board of Trustees, are based on attracting highly qualified faculty members, stressing the importance of annual evaluation of their performance in scientific research and teaching, serving the local community and interacting with students.

Al-Refai reviewed PSUT’s most important achievements, its activities, future plans and some of its programs which are unique both within the country and the region. He emphasized the need for earnest, fruitful work while giving utmost importance to scientific research, as it is a major milestone in the University’s record locally, regionally and internationally, as he put it.

Al-Refai focused on the need to enhance networking and partnerships with the industry sector in order to reduce the gap with the education sector, enumerating PSUT's success stories in this regard. He also indicated the effectiveness of cooperation with the Royal Scientific Society in the field of entrepreneurship and innovation and supporting the ideas of students and faculty members, to transform them into projects that provide scientific solutions to societal issues and problems.

The Director of the Quality Assurance and Accreditation Center, Dr. Ammar Al-Hassan, stated that this fourth edition of the annual event includes lectures covering a number of themes, most notably: joint research projects between PSUT, the RSS and the Hassan Business Park, local and international academic accreditation, the University's systems and regulations, the mechanism for supporting scientific research, how to deal with students, strategic planning, the e-learning system, the services of the Hassan Library, research strategies in databases, employee services and online registration, European Union grant programs and European projects, and cultural exchange programs for students and faculty members.
