The heads of member universities of the Center of Excellence for Library Services at Jordanian Private Universities, which is located in PSUT, met to evaluate the center’s achievements after a year from its founding, and to study its plans and aspirations for the following stage, in addition to launching its website. The meeting was attended by the President of the Accreditation and Quality Assurance Commission for Higher Education Institutions, Professor Dhafer Al-Sarayrah.
The center, which has a membership of 15 private universities, aims to share knowledge, face the challenges of the world of libraries and information centers, and provide supportive environments for the transfer of scientific research, digital transformation, and e-learning.
In his welcoming speech, the President of PSUT, Prof. Mashhoor Al-Refai, highlighted the importance of the center as a competitive advantage, and how it enhances aspects of cooperation between member universities, and serves to create partnerships and alliances that are compatible with the global transformation in education, and access to open sources of information.
Sarayrah praised the member universities as being in a positive and reassuring situation and said that he looked forward to further cooperation in other fields between private universities, and to the center's cooperation with its counterpart in public universities.
The Chairman of the Center’s Board of Directors, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Sababha, spoke about the challenges that accompanied the establishment of the Center, revealing its future directions in providing library systems to member universities, training and qualifying its library staff, and activating their mutual lending service.
In turn, the Director of the Center, Dr. Shadi Hemeidat, presented the most important achievements in the past period. These include the financial savings achieved for member universities, providing them with a set of global databases and smart search tools, and holding several workshops related to electronic subscriptions, and supporting activities for libraries.
It is noteworthy that the founding universities of the center are Princess Sumaya for Technology, Amman Al-Ahliyya, Philadelphia, Al-Israa, Irbid Al-Ahliyya, the Middle East, and Aqaba for Technology, International Islamic Science University, Petra, Applied Science Private University, Amman Arab, Zarqa, Talal Abu-Ghazaleh University College for Innovation, Luminus Technical University College, Jadara University.
