The following services of the El Hassan Library are open to the Royal Scientific Society, Princess Sumaya University academic and administrative staff, and PSUT students.

Search for Books and Other Library Resources

Users can search for Textbooks, Books, Fictions and Encyclopedia in both printed and electronics form, via the following links: 

Loan and Reserve Services

Loan and Reserve Services

  • Loan Services:
  • Loan for internal use: The user search the library catalogue for needed Books, browses through the shelves, and uses the books while in the library or proceeds to check them out.
  • Loan for external use: The user search the library catalogue for needed Books then borrows the books according to loan policies, by using his/her University ID card.
  • Interlibrary loan: The library is bound by interlibrary loan agreement with other libraries, that allow the library users to borrow resources from the other libraries, by filling a form and following the regulations of that agreement.

Reserve Services

Course reserve materials: At the beginning of each semester, instructors request to put course textbook(s) and related materials on reserve shelves for student use. In addition to the electronic course reserve that can be accessed via this link These books and related materials are used inside the library only. At the end of the semester, all books are returned to the shelves, except for those that are to be kept indefinitely on reserve upon the instructor's request.

Book Reserve (Hold): Users can search for books via the library catalougue and place a hold on books they want to borrow later on their convenience.

Information Literacy, Training and Instructions

Information Literacy, Training and Instructions

Library staff guide and train users on how to use the library and get maximum benefit from the various available services, as citation, evaluation, electronic resources use and preventing plagarism. Instruction sessions are provided at the beginning of the semester to new students and upon request for groups all year long. Also available is university level training on the use of citation resources and e-resources.

Training is also provided to students taking "Introduction to Libraries" course.

Reference Services

Reference Services

Reference questions and general queries may be submitted by LiveChat Services availabe on the library website, or by visiting the library, via email or telephone call.  Questions are answered by specialized staff.

Current awareness

Current awareness

The library informs faculty members and researchers of new library acquisitions in the following ways:

Monthly acquisition lists; scanning cover page and table of content of current periodicals and posting them on the library's FaceBook page; pinning book covers on bulletin boards, and through emails and phone calls.

Group Study Rooms

Group Study Rooms

The library has four group study rooms that are heavily used by students. Priority is given to groups of final year students preparing their graduation projects, and for Graduate students.  All users are requested to adhere to the rules governing the use of the rooms.

Printing

Printing is allowed for university students and faculty members when using Electronic Resources. Students have a limit of 150 pages per semester, while the limit for faculty members is 250 pages per semester.

Internet and Wi-Fi:  

All library users are allowed free access to wired or wireless internet connections at computer stations or using their personal laptops.
