On the occasion of the International Day for Giftedness and Creativity, and in a ceremony held by the Office for the Care of Gifted Students in the Deanship of Admissions and Registration, the President of Princess Sumaya University for Technology, Prof. Mashhoor Al-Refai, honored those students who were successful in local, regional and international competitions in academic, cultural, arts and sports forums during the first semester 2021-2022. The students’ supervisors were also given honors, in the presence of the Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Deans of the Schools, the Dean of Admissions and Registration and the Dean of Student Affairs.
Prof. Al-Refai described the honored students as ambassadors for the university and the nation, and inspiring beacons for their colleagues. He praised their efforts and their ability to reconcile academic excellence with their extracurricular activities.
Al-Refai added that PSUT, under the guidance of HRH Princess Sumaya bint El Hassan, Chair of its Board of Trustees, believes that students should be able to lead an integrated university life, and that it has charted a unique path for itself based on providing fertile environments for the growth, prosperity and excellence of its students in all their activities. He highlighted the fact that honoring and celebrating successful students serves as an incentive for everyone to strive towards further achievement.
The Dean of Admissions and Registration, Dr. Abdul Ghafoor Al-Saidi, pointed out that PSUT is keen to participate in the international days that support talent and creativity because they play an important role in spreading and promoting this culture, which it considers one of its strategic objectives. He added that the Office for the Care of Gifted Students is constantly seeking to urge and support students to participate in competitions and events that will hone their talents and skills.
At the ceremony, honors were presented to the winners of the international Women in Data Science competition (WiDS Datathon), the international Science Machine Learning Hackathon ML4SCI, the local CFA competition organized by the CFA Institute, the 17th International Microelectronics Olympiad, Umniah’s third Arabic Writing Competition (The 8Log), and PSUT’s own Outstanding Graduation Projects Competition. Also honored were the winners of the 2022 Asian Jiu-Jitsu Championship, the Asian Fencing Championship, the Kingdom’s Jiu-Jitsu Championship, the Jordanian Universities Badminton Championships, and the National Climbing Championship.
