The Center of Excellence for Library Services at Jordanian Private Universities at Princess Sumaya University for Technology held a workshop, in partnership with the international company EBSCO Information Services, on "Jordanian Private Universities’ Libraries at the Heart of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, from e-Learning to Artificial Intelligence".
The topics of the two-day workshop include artificial intelligence in academic libraries, data science for university libraries, research data management, information literacy programs, big data and academic libraries, and free access to information and its sources.
At the beginning of the session, the Vice President for Administrative Affairs and Chairman of the Center’s Board of Directors, Prof. Mohammad Sababheh, highlighted the Center’s efforts to enhance the role of the university library, which would contribute to changing the general perception of it in light of its growing presence with technological developments and access to data and information.
The Director of the Center, Dr. Shadi Humaidat, stated that the aim of the workshop is in line with the center's strategy of informing employees in member universities' libraries about the latest developments in the field of access to information and data, and providing them with skills and competencies in light of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
The Center, which was established in 2020, includes fifteen private Jordanian universities and research institutions: PSUT, Al-Ahliyya Amman University, Philadelphia University, Al-Israa University, Irbid National University, Middle East University, Aqaba University of Technology, University of Petra, International Islamic Science University, Applied Science Private University, Zarqa University, Jadara University, Amman Arab University, Talal Abu-Ghazaleh University College for Innovation, and Luminus Technical University College.
It is noteworthy that EBSCO Information Services (EBSCO) is one of the leading providers of content through databases, e-books, scientific journals, journals, digital archives, etc., in addition to being a versatile discovery tool for searching various library contents.
