Princess Sumaya University for Technology earned two gold medals in the 2022 “Blink” Jordanian universities basketball tournament. The competition is organized by the Sports Federation of Jordanian Universities in cooperation with the Jordan Basketball Federation, with the participation of 20 universities.

The awards ceremony, held at Prince Hamzah Hall in Al Hussein Youth City, was patronized by Prof. Sari Hamdan, Vice President of the Jordan Olympic Committee and President of the University Sports Federation, acting on behalf of HRH Princess Sumaya bint El Hassan. In attendance were PSUT’s Acting President, Wejdan Abu Elhaija, the head of the Basketball Federation’s temporary committee, Mohammad Alayan, representatives of Blink, and several university presidents and deans of student affairs.

PSUT’s ladies’ team won the title by defeating the University of Jordan team with a score of (51-45) after the men’s team had already won the championship after beating Al-Ahliyya Amman University in two consecutive matches, (97-66) and (79-67).

In the individual awards, PSUT player Masa Al-Nubani dominated most of the awards, taking best 3-point scorer, MVP, best goal scorer, best passer, and best ball stealer. Haya Al-Khuffash ranked first in the 3-pointers, while Ali Kanaan won the award for men’s best 3-point shooter.

The men’s dream team, “ALL 5 STARS”, also included three PSUT players, Basil Abu Aboud, Akef Al-Sheyab, and Ishaq Maraqa.

Prof. Abu Elhaija commended the university’s two winning teams and emphasized PSUT’s keenness to help students develop their talents in all academic, cultural, arts and sports arenas, giving every possible support to their activities.

The Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Rami Salem, indicated that this victory adds to PSUT’s long record of sports achievements, furthering the Deanship’s vision of achievement in sports and other extracurricular activities. He praised the students’ maturity and their keenness to make their university shine in a range of sports forums.

Last year, PSUT men’s team won the gold medal in the Jordanian Universities' Basketball Championship, which was organized by the university as part of its celebrations of Jordan’s centenary.
