Princess Sumaya University for Technology has moved into the 401-450 category in the QS World University Rankings for 2022, in the field of Computer Science and Information Systems, up from last year’s placing in the 451-500 category.
The classification, which published the global university rankings in 51 different fields, is based on the academic reputation of the University, employers’ opinions of its graduates, and on citations from scientific research published by its professors. It also takes into account the H-Index for Scientific Research and the International Research Network (IRN).
PSUT’s President, Prof. Mashhoor Al-Refai, said that this advancement is in line with the University's tireless efforts to be internationally competitive, emphasizing that it represents a good return on the long-term efforts made by the University's academic and administrative staff.
Prof. Al-Refai added that the University has enacted legislation that stimulates the scientific research environment, which has doubled the number of research works published in the name of PSUT several times in the past years, according to the global research database Scopus.
PSUT’s Vice President for Academic Affairs, Prof. Wejdan Abu Al Haija, stated that the University attaches the utmost importance to this field, and that it has a PhD program in Computer Science that has graduated a number of distinguished students in terms of research, academic, and practical aspects, all of whom are currently working in local and international universities and companies.
Prof. Abu Al Haija added that PSUT selects its specializations with the utmost care and constantly subjects them to development processes that are designed to meet current demand and the needs of the labor markets.
Last year, PSUT moved into second place nationally, maintaining its position in the 801-1000 in the World University Rankings 2022 QS Ranking, and also obtained five stars in the international QS Stars assessment.
The QS World University Rankings is one of the three most important university rankings around the world and is based on criteria that reflect the quality of educational and research aspects and the impact of the university locally and globally.
