PSUT student Hazem Kayyali wins Mixed Martial Arts World Championship
A current student at Princess Sumaya University for Technology, Hazem Kayyali, won the World Championship in Mixed Martial Arts (MMA), which was held between 8 – 11 September in the Czech capital, Prague.
The President of the University, Prof. Mashhoor Al-Refai, congratulated the winning student on this great national achievement, praising his excellence, dedication and great ability to strike a balance between his studies and sporting commitments. Al-Refai emphasized that PSUT, under the directives of HRH Princess Sumaya bint El Hassan, Chair of the University’s Board of Trustees, spares no effort to provide its students with everything they need to give them an advantage in all competitive forums, and to represent Jordan in the best possible light.
Al-Refai added that PSUT, despite the fact that its general orientation is technological and it has no college of physical education, does, however, pay great attention to the students' sports, cultural, social and arts activities, because of the benefits they offer in honing their talents and investing their energies.
PSUT’s Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Rami Salem, stated that Kayyali’s victory was expected because of his past displays of superiority, great talent and tremendous efforts.
Al-Kayyali, who is majoring in Business Administration at the King Talal School of Business Technology, won a bronze medal in the same tournament last year, and is the Jordanian champion and university level champion in his weight category in Jiu-Jitsu.
