Princess Sumaya University for Technology has won first place in the Association of Arab Universities’ Prize for Best Master's Thesis for the thesis submitted by PSUT graduate Ahmed Tayseer Hammouda, in the specialization of Artificial Intelligence and entitled “A framework for arrival rate extraction and size reduction using Singular Spectrum Analysis and Fourier series”.
The win was announced at the opening session of the General Conference of the Association of Arab Universities by its Secretary General, HE Dr. Amr Ezzat Salama, who congratulated the President of the University, Prof. Mashhoor Al-Refai, and the student for this well-deserved victory.
Prof. Al-Refai expressed his happiness at the honorable victory, congratulating the PSUT graduate's achievement, and praising the role of his School and thesis supervisors, saying, "The victory does not come as a surprise, but rather comes in its natural context, as PSUT is always working to harmonize its specializations with the requirements of the modern industrial market."
Al-Refai added that the University, under the guidance of HRH Princess Sumaya bint El Hassan, pays unparalleled interest in its students and provides them with every possible opportunity to allow them to compete on the global level.
The Dean of the King Hussein School of Computing Sciences, Dr. Ashraf Ahmad, praised the graduate Hammouda, stating that he was the first student to graduate from the Master's program in Data Science. He stated that this Master's program was launched in 2017, and is distinguished by its treatment of a range of subjects that integrate basic scientific theories and modern practical application.
The Association of Arab Universities is an Arab institution with a separate legal personality, based in Amman. It was established at the initiative of the Cultural Administration in the Arab League to support and coordinate the efforts of Arab universities to prepare people capable of serving the Arab nation by encouraging the establishment of research centers and supporting the conduct of joint scientific research and the exchange of their results. The Association oversees applied research studies, linking their topics to the Arab economic and social development plans.
