Karam Bazaar at Princess Sumaya University for Technology

The President of Princess Sumaya University for Technology, Prof. Wejdan Abu Elhaija, inaugurated ‘Karam Bazaar’ that was organized by the Deanship of Student Affairs. The bazaar, which lasted for three days on the university campus, aimed to support women and youth of the local community and people with disabilities.

During her tour in the bazaar with the deans and administrative directors of the university, Dr. Abu Elhaija had a look at the products that included crafts, handicrafts, accessories, and folkloric and traditional foods. The president was happy with the cooperation with community institutions as it complements the university’s role in community service, and contributes to providing the necessary assistance to develop capacities and skills. It also opens horizons for cooperation and solidarity between the academic sector and community institutions.

Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Rami Salem, pointed out that the Deanship is keen to hold such community events that train students to contribute to interactive activities that enhance partnerships between all community institutions.

The head of the organizing committee of Karam Bazaar, Ms. Samar Abu Hantash, thanked the university president and all the administrative staff for hosting and supporting Karam Bazaar. She expressed her pride in the presence of the Bazaar at PSUT. She also pinpointed that the university is one of the most important marketing platforms for productive women, young entrepreneurs, owners of micro-enterprises, and craftsmen of people with disabilities.

More than 40 parties participated in ‘Karam Bazaar’ including women producers, craftsmen, owners of micro-enterprises, and people of disabilities. The bazaar mainly had products and handicrafts such as: soap, silver, candles, cups, clothes, traditional food and sweets, in addition to toys and free gifts.
