Princess Sumaya University for Technology celebrates the 77th Independence Day

Under the patronage of HRH Princess Sumaya bint El Hassan, the Chairman of Board of Trustees of Princess Sumaya University for Technology (PSUT), a national ceremony was inaugurated by the President of PSUT, Prof. Wejdan Abu Elhaija, in celebration of the 77th Independence Day and national holidays. The ceremony was organized by the Deanship of Student Affairs and took place inside the university campus.

The ceremony was attended by the President of the University of Jordan, Prof. Natheer Obeidat; the security commander of the Capital Region, Brigadier General Ali Al-Zoubi; the Vice President of the Royal Scientific Society, Eng. Rafat Assi; representatives from the participating military authorities; members of the University's Council of Deans; a number of university professors and employees; and a wide gathering of PSUT students.

Prof. Wejdan Abu Elhaija, the President of the University, extended a warm welcome to the esteemed guests and students, congratulating everyone on the 77th Independence Day. This day, known as the festival of glory and pride, described by king Abdullah II Bin Al Hussein as a tale of struggle and sacrifice. It serves as a reminder of the unwavering commitment demonstrated by the dedicated men and women of Jordan, who have worked tirelessly to safeguard freedom, promote human values, and foster a prosperous life under the Hashemite banner.

Prof. Abu Elhaija emphasized, stating, “As a university, we are filled with immense pride and joy, as we continue to make remarkable strides towards globalization at a steady pace. This remarkable progress is made possible due to the unwavering support and guidance of HRH Princess Sumaya bint El Hassan, the Chairwoman of the University's Board of Trustees. Our university will remain steadfast in its commitment to the legacy of independence and its promise, firmly believing that there are no limits to our pursuit of achievements and continuous development.”

Prof. Abu Elhaija further stated, “We also have the right to be proud of the First Degree Order of Independence bestowed upon our university by His Majesty King Abdullah II a few years ago, in recognition of our excellence in the field of information technology. Which will be always a source of motivation, inspiring us to strive for excellence. Today, we renew our pledge of loyalty to our leadership and our dedication to continue treading the path of excellence.”

Dr. Rami Salim, the Dean of Student Affairs, delivered a detailed presentation highlighting the remarkable achievements of the Hashemites in building and developing the kingdom across various sectors, along with the Jordanian military heritage. He emphasized that organizing such events aligns with the deanship's mission to foster a strong sense of national identity among students, by consistently commemorating significant national holidays that have greatly honored Jordan's name.

The university president, Prof. Abu Elhaija, accompanied by university guests and members of the University Council of Deans, toured the military pavilions participating in the ceremony, including the Jordan Design and Development Bureau (JODDB), the Royal Tank Museum, the Military Media Directorate, the Civil Defense Directorate, and the Community Police Department. Moreover, the Public Security Directorate organized a showcase highlighting the Anti-Narcotics Department. The exhibition displayed a range of vehicles, including Gendarmerie vehicles, rescue patrols, traffic patrols, a traffic motorcycle, as well as Civil Defense vehicles. Furthermore, a selection of distinguished projects by students from the King Abdullah II School of Engineering and the King Hussein School of Computing Sciences were showcased, along with an exhibition of student drawings that embody this national occasion.

The ceremony featured a performance by the music band of the Armed Forces, along with the participation of the Silent Infantry faction and poetic recitations by student Zaid Al-Ostaath. It also included a musical segment by the artist Yahya Sweiss and a diverse range of sports demonstrations. Additionally, the university's Dabke and Folklore band delivered a captivating performance. Furthermore, the Irada association organized a vibrant bazaar, showcasing a wide range of products.

Towards the conclusion of the ceremony, the university president honored the participating and supporting parties, recognizing their exceptional contributions in ensuring the success of this national event.
