Overview of AI-Ability
The AI-Ability initiative aims to transfer foundational knowledge and practical skills in data science and artificial intelligence to school students across the Kingdom. The initiative offers a series of lectures, workshops, and scientific visits targeting Jordanian school students to spread knowledge and raise awareness about the optimal and responsible use of technology in light of ongoing digital and technological advancements.
AI-Ability is the first initiative of its kind, launched in response to national priorities, the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and the strategic objectives of the university. Since its inception in 2021, the initiative has trained over 1,000 students in AI and data science applications. It primarily targets students in grades 8 through 12 from both public and private schools, with participation extended to some students from grades 4 to 7.
The initiative also emphasizes community engagement in both delivering and receiving knowledge. A team of university volunteers, including students, faculty, and administrative staff, actively organized the initiative’s events, prepared educational materials, and delivered hands-on and virtual workshops and lectures. This participation helped them develop essential life skills related to knowledge dissemination, awareness-raising, volunteerism, and social responsibility.
