• In 2001, the Computer Engineering Department was established, offering a BSc. degree in Computer Engineering.
• In 2002, the university was granted the title of Princess Sumaya University for Technology by the Higher Educational Council at the Jordanian Ministry of Higher Education.
• After being granted the new title, the university inaugurated the School of Information Technology, adding to the Computer Science Department two further departments, namely the Department of Computer Graphics and Animation and the Department of Software Engineering. It also inaugurated the School of Electrical Engineering, with the addition of a new Department of Communications Engineering to the existing Department of Electronics Engineering and the Department of Computer Engineering. It also inaugurated the School of Graduate Studies and Scientific Research.
