A team from the King Abdullah II School of Engineering at Princess Sumaya University for Technology clinched first place in the Electrical Engineering Division of the Jordan Engineers Association’s 2024 Graduation Project Competition, which saw broad participation from engineering students across Jordanian universities.
The winning graduation project, titled “Designing a Photovoltaic System with Machine Learning-Based Fault Detection,” was carried out by students Mayar Khawaja, Sandy Mikel, and Mutaz Abu Shabab, under the supervision of Dr. Majd Batarseh.
University President, Prof. Wejdan Abu Elhaija, stressed the importance of involving students in such competitions and forums, both locally and internationally, to help them develop innovative ideas in engineering and keep pace with global progress.
Abu Elhaija also expressed pride in the students’ ongoing achievements and praised their supervisors, noting that these accomplishments reflect the strong educational environment at the university, supported by HRH Princess Sumaya bint El Hassan, who encourages creativity and innovation to solve real-world challenges.
Dr. Osama Abu Sharkh, Dean of the King Abdullah II School of Engineering, reaffirmed the school’s commitment to combining academic knowledge with practical experience and supporting projects that address current engineering needs.
