Prof. Wejdan Abu Elhaija, President of Princess Sumaya University for Technology, inaugurated the "Internet of Things Day" event organized by the University’s Internet of Things Club. The event, titled "Empowering Connectivity: Unleashing the Potential of IoT," coincided with the Global Day to celebrate IoT. It aimed to bridge the gap between university education and the job market in IoT applications.
The event featured a dialogue session with IoT specialists discussing the latest developments in this modern technology. The session, attended by Vice President Prof. Bassam Hammo, and King Abdullah II School of Engineering Dean Dr. Osama Abu Sharkh, along with the club’s academic supervisor Dr. Mohammad Al Jaafra, and a number of interested professors and students, focused on IoT's impact across sectors such as industry, health, and agriculture.
Eng. Nidal Bitar, CEO of Intaj Association, Engineer Firas Dhiab, CEO of Connection of Things, and Engineer Omar Kayyali, an IoT expert at IoT Jordan, were among the participants in the discussions. The discussions also highlighted the importance of collaboration in developing digital infrastructure and addressed key challenges in adopting this technology.
Dr. Rami Salem, Dean of Student Affairs, highlighted the establishment of the first Internet of Things club at Princess Sumaya University for Technology. This reflects the deanship’s commitment to fostering specialized student clubs. With this addition, PSUT now has a total of 25 such clubs.
Dr. Salem emphasized that the university administration prioritizes providing students with an educational environment that meets international standards, consistent with the university’s commitment to excellence and its track record of achievements.
Sandra Shawish, president of the club, mentioned that several universities have invited club members to conduct introductory workshops on the Internet of Things. These workshops provide practical examples of how IoT technology connects devices and everyday items through the internet.
At the conclusion of the events, the university president honored the guest speakers.
