Princess Sumaya University for Technology, a leading Jordanian university, has earned recognition in international, regional, and local forums for its academically distinguished programs that align with modern advancements in technology, engineering, and related fields. Though a private, non-profit institution, it stands out with its unique national character, offering services and scholarships similar to those of public universities. Notably, it is among the few private universities where student admission is based on competitive standards, often exceeding those of many renowned public universities.
Princess Sumaya University for Technology is a prominent Jordanian higher education institution with a strong global presence, marked by notable international achievements. The university ranks among the top institutions, placing within the 351-400 category for Computer Science and Information Technology, and within the 501-550 category for Business Administration in the QS World University Rankings for 2024. The Business Administration program at the King Talal School of Business Technology has earned accreditation from the Human Resources Certification Institute (HRCI®), aligning with international standards for the Associate Professional in Human Resources-International (aPHRi) certification. Additionally, the Master’s program in Business Analysis has been accredited by the British Institute of Analytics (IoA), and the Accounting program has received accreditation from the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA Endorsement Program).
Princess Sumaya University's international reputation continues to grow. The university launched the Cybersecurity Youth Academy in collaboration with the Purdue Applied Research Institute and the Purdue Center for Research and Education, strengthening its global presence in academic and research initiatives.
To achieve this success, the university administration, under the guidance of HRH Princess Sumaya bint El Hassan, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, implemented a sustainable strategy focused on developing faculty, administrative staff, and students. This strategy includes several innovative programs, such as the PSUT Career Program, launched in collaboration with the Coursera Career Academy. This program provides students and graduates with global professional certificates, enhancing their competitiveness for top-tier jobs while supporting the academic and professional development of faculty and staff.
Additionally, the university introduced the Entrepreneur in Residence (EIR) Program, led by the Deanship of Admissions and Registration, to empower students, faculty, and staff to turn ideas into real-world ventures, fostering an entrepreneurial and innovative environment. The university also launched the Venture Lab program to equip students with the knowledge needed to start businesses and turn academic projects into practical ventures.
The university administration, guided by the vision of its Board of Trustees, continues to develop high-quality academic programs. What sets Princess Sumaya University apart is not the number of new programs, but their quality. Recently, the university launched the Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) program, the first of its kind in Jordan.
The success of the university’s carefully developed vision and strategy is evident in the achievements of its students in global competitions. This excellence reflects the high quality of education at the university, making its graduates comparable to those from renowned international institutions. As a result, Princess Sumaya University remains a top choice for students from across the Arab world and the region.
In the past academic year, Princess Sumaya University for Technology students achieved remarkable success. The university performed exceptionally well in the “Capture the Flag 2024” competition at the Black Hat Middle East and Africa (MEA) Conference in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, securing global rankings of 15th, 16th, 32nd, 33rd, and 36th. Regionally, PSUT earned second and third places overall, as well as first and second among Arab universities.
PSUT also took first place globally in the Collegiate Penetration Testing Competition (CPTC 9) at the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) in New York, where they were the only team from outside the United States.
The university's female students made significant achievements, winning first place globally in the 2024 Women in Data Science Challenge hosted by Stanford University. Their team was also named the best student team worldwide and placed ninth overall among universities and companies.
Additionally, one of the university’s students secured third place globally in the IEEE Entrepreneurship Competition, and PSUT students took second and third place in the Huawei ICT Competition 2023/2024, organized by Huawei in China.
The university also won third place globally in the HackDay cybersecurity competition, with 25 teams from around the world. The event was held in Paris, France, for 24 continuous hours.
Princess Sumaya University for Technology has continued to achieve excellence in local scientific and technological competitions. The university was crowned champion of the 3rd National Sumo Robots Contest, winning first and third places, as well as the Best Programming Award, Best Robot Strategy Award, and the Rising Star Award. PSUT also claimed first and third place in the 2024 XpandCTF competition, co-organized by international company Propeller and local company Leetspace.jo.
Additionally, PSUT secured first, third, fourth, sixth, and tenth places in the Jordan University of Science and Technology Cybersecurity Competition (JUSTCTF2024). The university clinched first place in the Gaming and Entertainment track and second place in the Public Safety, Security, and Defense Technologies track at the 11th National Technology Parade.
PSUT also earned first place in Jordan, second in the Arab world, and twenty-ninth globally in the Hack the Box - University CTF 2023 - Brains & Bytes competition. Furthermore, the university took first place in both the Media and Financial Technology (FinTech) categories at the Artificial Intelligence Hackathon, organized by MENA DEVS at Luminus Technical University College (LTUC).
The university also clinched the title of the Arab AI Olympiad, securing first place and earning the highest total score among participating universities. The tournament was organized by the STEAM Center and the Arab Robotics and AI Association. In addition, PSUT won second place in the Zinc AI Hackathon at the Xpand conference in the Health Technology category.
The university administration focuses strongly on the study plan, especially in practical applications. This commitment led to PSUT winning second place in the Electrical Engineering Division at the 2023 Graduation Projects Competition organized by the Jordanian Engineers Association, for the project “Design and Implementation of a GaN-based Class D Audio Power Amplifier.”
The university also prioritized collaboration with national institutions, securing second place in the Chartered Financial Analyst Institute-Research Challenge 2023 competition, organized by the CFA Institute, Jordan branch. Additionally, PSUT achieved third place in the first Jordan Semiconductors Design Competition (JoSDC’23).
Princess Sumaya University students not only excelled in academic and technological fields but also achieved significant success in sports competitions.
The university was crowned champion in the Jordanian Universities Badminton Championship for male students, winning both the individual and team categories. The championship was organized by the Sports Federation of Jordan Universities in collaboration with the Jordan Badminton Federation.
PSUT also won the overall championship at the Jordanian Universities Sports Tournament during the Independence Day and Silver Jubilee celebrations. The victories included gold medals in football, table tennis singles (male students), 3x3 basketball (female students), badminton singles (male students), and mixed doubles in badminton. Additionally, the university won two bronze medals in the Jordanian Universities Taekwondo Championship.
