Princess Sumaya University for Technology, in cooperation with the Knights of Change Association for Political Development and Civil Society Development, organized a symposium titled “The Role of Jordan and the Hashemites in Defending the Palestinian Cause.” Senator Dr. Mostafa Al-Rawashdeh, former Ambassador Ziad Al-Majali, and Retired Major General Dr. Ismail Al-Shobaki, Director General of the Retired Military Association, participated in the symposium, which was moderated by Basma Al-Sardiya.
The symposium, attended by members of the Council of Deans, academic and administrative staff, and university students, commenced with the recitation of Al-Fatihah for the souls of the martyrs of Palestine, Gaza, and the armed forces and security services.
Prof. Wejdan Abu Elhaija, the University President, stated, “Our shared national spirit unites us, just as we stand together in the unity of the Jordanian community on various national matters. Today, we follow the path set by HRH Princess Sumaya bint El Hassan, Chair of the University Board of Trustees, to make the university an incubation for addressing societal issues and a platform to praise Hashemite initiatives, efforts, and the promising young generations who are the knights of change.”
Abu Elhaija mentioned, “Today's gathering marks the kickoff of the national campaign called ‘Our Compass is Palestine, with Jerusalem its crown.’ This campaign will simultaneously launch in all Jordanian universities, turning this day into a national celebration. It begins at universities, showcasing the determination of the young generation in Jordan to express their support for our people in Palestine and Gaza.”
She added, “These efforts align with the ongoing endeavors led by His Majesty King Abdullah II and supported by the Crown Prince, Prince Al Hussein.”
Senator Al-Rawashdeh emphasized the strong Jordanian stance led by His Majesty King Abdullah II in support of our people in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank. The Jordanian people proudly stand behind our Hashemite leadership, as well as the armed forces and security services.
Al-Majali talked about Jordan's diplomatic efforts, led by His Majesty King Abdullah II, to draw the attention of the international community and address the depth of human suffering in the Gaza Strip. These efforts, carried out through conferences, aim to prompt the international community to work towards lifting the siege and providing urgent humanitarian aid.
Al-Shobaki highlighted the Jordanian Armed Forces' pivotal role in defending Palestine and Jerusalem's holy sites in 1948. Emphasizing their patriotic duty, he stated that, under the leadership of King Abdullah II, their ongoing mission remains steadfast in supporting their brethren in Occupied Palestine.
The symposium featured videos showcasing the efforts of the Jordanian Armed Forces in supporting the Gaza Strip and the role of the Knights of Change Association. After the presentations, a discussion took place, providing attendees with the opportunity to ask questions and receive answers from the speakers.
