Princess Sumaya University for Technology's President, Prof. Wejdan Abu Elhaija, launched the Creativity and Innovation Day activities, organized by the Deanship of Admissions and Registration in cooperation with the Office of Technology Transfer and Commercialization at the University, aimed at fostering creativity and innovation among university students and supporting sustainable development goals locally and globally.
The Creativity and Innovation Day activities were attended by Prof. Atef Kanan, President of the Arab Council for the Gifted and Talented, Engineer Bilal Hafnawi from the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission, Engineer Nidal Bitar, CEO of the Information and Communications Technology Association of Jordan "intaj", Prof. Bassam Hammo, Vice President of the University, and Prof. Abdul Ghafour Saidi, the President’s Advisor for Student Success and Retention. University students and school students also participated.
Activities on the Creativity and Innovation Day were part of the world creativity and innovation day celebrations. They included an exhibition featuring projects by university students in various fields. A competition was held to recognize the best projects, judged by experts from the Royal Scientific Society, the iPARK business incubator, and the Queen Rania Center for Entrepreneurship.
Dr. Muhanna Muhanna, the University's Dean of Admissions and Registration, highlighted the event's significance as a platform for discovering student talents and promoting a culture of creativity and excellence. He emphasized the university's commitment to nurturing a generation of innovators contributing to societal development.
Muhannad Taslaq, overseeing the Technology Transfer and Commercialization Office, outlined the office's initiatives, including the Venture Lab program, aimed at supporting entrepreneurial endeavors from idea incubation to project establishment. Layanah Al-Wreikat, a university graduate and Director of Business Development and Operations and JOIN Fincubator at Jordan Payments and Clearing Company (JoPACC), shared her journey and experiences, providing insights into the realm of financial technology and innovation.
The Creativity and Innovation Day also saw the participation of organizations like Jordan Ahli Bank, The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Jordan Accelerator Lab, MARS Robotics Company, and The Saudi Jordanian Industrial Development Company (Jordina), further enriching the event.
