The Center of Excellence for Library Services at Jordanian Private Universities (CELSJPU) held its first meeting for 2025 at Princess Sumaya University for Technology. The meeting was chaired by Prof. Bassam Hammo, Vice President of the university and Chairman of the Center’s Board, and attended by the Center’s Director, Dr. Mamoon Ahmed, and the directors of member libraries.
The Center, based at Princess Sumaya University for Technology, aims to share knowledge and resources, address challenges in the library sector, and support scientific research.
During the meeting, Prof. Hammo announced the election of the 2025 Board of Directors, which includes members from Al-Isra University, Amman Arab University, Philadelphia University, Jerash University, Al-Hussein Technical University, Applied Science Private University, and Petra University.
The meeting also covered the Center’s work plan, with proposals for activities such as participating in local and international conferences, attending courses on artificial intelligence for library services, adding new databases, advancing the digital repository project with AI technology, and offering training courses in partnership with database companies and the university’s Consulting and Training Center.
The Center, established in 2020, includes 15 private Jordanian universities: Princess Sumaya University for Technology, Al-Ahliyya Amman University, Philadelphia University, Isra University, Irbid National University, Jerash University, Middle East University, University of Petra, World Islamic Sciences and Education University, Applied Science Private University, Al Hussein Technical University, Zarqa University, Jadara University, Amman Arab University, and Luminus Technical University College.
