Princess Sumaya University for Technology (PSUT) has announced the expansion of its academic collaboration with Aircom, in a step aimed at strengthening education aligned with industry needs in the fields of telecommunications and network planning.
PSUT and Aircom share a long-standing partnership. Since 2008, the university has integrated Aircom’s ASSET radio network planning platform into its undergraduate curriculum.
This collaboration has enabled more than 650 students to gain hands-on experience using tools widely adopted by telecommunications operators.
The ASSET platform is included in laboratory courses taught over two academic semesters, providing students with a blend of theoretical knowledge and practical application through advanced simulation exercises. It is also used in senior-year graduation projects. Each training session lasts between 60 and 90 minutes, allowing students to apply academic concepts to real-world scenarios in cellular network planning and Internet of Things (IoT) systems, including coverage analysis and interference management.
Dr. Osama Abu-Sharkh, Dean of the King Abdullah II Faculty of Engineering, stated that the faculty is committed to developing its academic programs through an integrated applied approach that keeps pace with rapid scientific advancements and responds to evolving labor market demands. He explained that building strategic partnerships with leading global companies is a key pillar of the faculty’s educational vision, which is based on effectively integrating theoretical knowledge with practical application.
He added that strengthening collaboration with Aircom International represents an important step in equipping students with advanced skills in modern telecommunications technologies and wireless network planning, enhancing their professional readiness and competitiveness at both local and international levels.
Dr. Luae’ Al-Tarawneh, Head of the Telecommunications Engineering Department at PSUT, said that integrating the ASSET platform into the department’s applied courses reflects PSUT’s commitment to providing students with advanced practical skills in network planning and management. It also allows them to become familiar with professional tools and technologies used by major telecommunications companies, further enhancing their applied expertise and preparing them to integrate effectively into the job market.
Students trained on the ASSET platform gain a deep understanding of professional practices in this field, which improves their employment prospects and readiness to contribute to the workforce in telecommunications engineering and IoT. This collaboration reflects PSUT’s commitment to maintaining academic programs aligned with global industry standards and modern technological trends.
For his part, Kaustav Sengupta, Senior Vice President of Delivery for Radio Access Networks and Customer Success at Aircom, said: “Partnering with prestigious academic institutions like PSUT is essential for developing the next generation of technology professionals. Through this collaboration, we support students’ understanding of the complexities of modern network planning and enable them to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and practical application in the industry.”
This expanded collaboration reflects PSUT’s ongoing commitment to building effective partnerships with the industrial sector, benefiting students, faculty members, and the broader technology community.
