In a pioneering and unprecedented move, Princess Sumaya University for Technology (PSUT) President, Prof. Wejdan Abu Elhaija, announced the launch of an advanced digital signature system for official and critical documents signing, known as (VerifyX) built in the support of Blockchain technology for enhanced digital trust and reliability. This important achievement aims to enhance digital documents security and integrity during its entire life cycle, and to accelerate administrative procedures in accordance with the national and international security and privacy standards.
The launch of VerifyX comes as part of PSUT’s strategy to support digital transformation and innovation, reinforce its pioneering role in adopting emerging technologies, and deliver smart, scalable solutions applicable across higher education institutions as well as the public and private sectors in the Kingdom. This positively impacts institutional efficiency, reduces reliance on paper-based transactions, and permanently eliminates the possibility of forgery or manipulation of university documents.
Prof. Abu Elhaija stated that the utilization of Blockchain technology within the digital process flow will ensures absolute trust in all digital signatures and provides highest integrity level. The use of this decentralized layer will also enable real-time, transparent tracking and verification of signature processes. The system adopts advanced cryptographic protocols that go beyond prevailing traditional standards, guaranteeing the highest levels of integrity and immunity against tampering or forgery.
VerifyX also achieves seamless and strategic integration with the digital signature infrastructure of the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship (MODEE), ensuring alignment with approved national frameworks and strengthening the official recognition of digital signatures issued by the University.
This initiative aligns with the directives of HRH Sumaya bint El Hassan, Chair of PSUT’s Board of Trustees, which emphasize the necessity of building an integrated national technological ecosystem grounded in innovation, cybersecurity, and digital sustainability, while linking higher education outputs to practical application and societal needs.
VerifyX was developed by a university spin-off startup, whose team includes a number of PSUT faculty members and students. This achievement reaffirms that Princess Sumaya University for Technology does not merely keep pace with development, but actively leads an innovative roadmap for digital transformation in the academic sector at both the local and global levels.
