Princess Sumaya bint El Hassan Meets the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff at Princess Sumaya University for Technology

Her Royal Highness Princess Sumaya bint El Hassan, President of the Royal Scientific Society and Chair of the Board of Trustees of Princess Sumaya University for Technology (PSUT), met today, Wednesday, with the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Major General Yousef Ahmad Al-Huneiti, in the presence of PSUT President, Prof. Wejdan Abu Elhaija, during an official visit to the university. The visit came within the framework of both sides’ commitment to strengthening the strategic partnership between the academic and military institutions.

During the meeting, HRH emphasized the importance of investing in technological education and scientific research as two fundamental pillars for building a strong knowledge-based economy. She also praised the role played by the Jordanian Armed Forces in keeping pace with technological advancements and enhancing their defense capabilities in accordance with the latest international standards.

For his part, Major General Al-Huneiti affirmed that the visit reflects the Royal directives aimed at achieving structural transformation within the Armed Forces through expanding strategic technological partnerships, adopting artificial intelligence applications, and developing unmanned aerial vehicles (drones) in cooperation with universities, institutes, and specialized researchers in these fields. He commended the advanced level attained by the university in the areas of technology and innovation, which contributes to preparing qualified human resources equipped with the technical skills necessary to support the modernization and development system within the Armed Forces.

During the meeting, which was attended by members of PSUT’s Council of Deans, Prof. Abu Elhaija reviewed PSUT’s journey and achievements at both the local and international levels, as well as the qualitative development achieved in its academic programs through the introduction of pioneering specializations in the fields of computer science, engineering, and business technology. She affirmed that these accomplishments were achieved through the continuous support and guidance of HRH Princess Sumaya bint El Hassan.
