Princess Sumaya University for Technology Launches TEDxPSUT 2026 Conference Under the Theme “Future, Rewired”
The President of Princess Sumaya University for Technology (PSUT), Prof. Wejdan Abu Elhaija, inaugurated the activities of PSUT’s TEDxPSUT 2026 conference, organized by the Deanship of Student Affairs under the theme “Future, Rewired.” The event featured a distinguished group of local and international experts and speakers specializing in technology, artificial intelligence, the environment, entrepreneurship, and economics.
Prof. Abu Elhaija emphasized that the conference reflects the university’s vision of fostering an environment of intellectual dialogue and creativity while providing young people with opportunities to engage with contemporary global issues. She noted that the current era demands a profound awareness of the rapid technological, environmental, and social transformations taking place worldwide.
She added that the university, guided by the vision of HRH Princess Sumaya bint El Hassan, continues to empower students and develop their leadership and creative capacities by supporting impactful initiatives that integrate knowledge with social influence and provide youth with a platform for critical thinking and meaningful change.
The Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Ramzy Radaideh, stated that TEDxPSUT has become one of PSUT’s leading intellectual and youth-oriented platforms, offering a space for exchanging inspiring ideas and experiences while reflecting the university’s commitment to promoting innovation and strengthening the role of youth in shaping the future.
The conference featured a series of inspiring panel discussions addressing the future of technology and artificial intelligence, digital transformation, environmental sustainability, the future of business and economics, leadership in confronting global challenges, as well as the role of culture, creativity, and the social sciences in the technological era.
The conference also focused on several pressing issues, including the risks associated with an AI-dependent world and its growing environmental impact, the cognitive and social effects of technology on younger generations, the escalating threat of climate collapse, species extinction, shrinking ecosystems, and the erosion of biodiversity.
The conference welcomed a distinguished lineup of local and international experts and speakers in the fields of artificial intelligence, technology, entrepreneurship, economics, and sustainability. Among the featured speakers were Dr. Omar Hatamleh, former Chief Artificial Intelligence Officer at NASA; Mr. Imad Abu Haltam, Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Jordan Securities Commission and former World Bank advisor and executive; and Mrs. Hala Siraj, former executive at Talabat and Uber, board member of the Amman Stock Exchange and Bank of Jordan, and co-founder of FENA Holdings.
The conference also featured Ahmad Al-Masri, founder and CEO of Progressive Generation Holding, and Mohammad Hweilah, Head of Advanced Solutions at Samsung. From PSUT, Dr. Ola Alhadeed, Professor of Business Administration and Coordinator for Sustainability and the Seventeenth Sustainable Development Goal, participated in the event. In addition, Dr. Osama Abdel Hay from the Department of Computing Sciences discussed the future of healthcare amid increasing reliance on artificial intelligence, highlighting the role of biostatistics.
The conference also featured an innovative artistic performance by MiG the Robot, which delivered an interactive experience combining artificial intelligence with graffiti art.
This year’s TEDxPSUT edition focused on exploring the relationship between humanity, technology, and nature while highlighting the challenges facing the world today.
The conference chair, student Taleh Ghannam, stated that the conference represents a dynamic platform where ideas emerge to drive change and stories gain the power to inspire passion, reflecting a deep belief in every individual’s ability to reshape the world around them.
She added that this year’s theme, “Future; Rewired,” embodies the accelerated transformation currently shaping the world, where concepts and systems are being redefined at an unprecedented pace. The theme serves as an open invitation to reflect on pathways of change and the role of thinkers, innovators, and changemakers in directing this transformation toward more sustainable and humane horizons that balance technological advancement with human needs while preserving the planet and its ecosystems.
At the conclusion of the conference, Prof. Abu Elhaija honored the participants and sponsors for their contributions to the success of the event, which was attended by PSUT Vice President, Dr. Osamah Badarnah, members of the university’s Board of Deans, faculty members, and interested students.
