The Department of Computer Graphics and Animation is the first of its kind in Jordan and the Middle East, beginning its teaching program in the academic year 2005-2006.
The department’s mission is to integrate scientific knowledge and practical skills in the field of Computer Graphics and Animation, while staying up-to-date with key developments in information technology and computing. Additionally, the department aims to provide the local and Arab markets with expertise in multimedia and animation to meet the growing demand in these fields.
The study plan was developed after an in-depth analysis of the animation and gaming industry's needs in Jordan, as well as a comparison with study plans from specialized international universities. Consequently, the department aims to equip students with essential skills in computer science, providing a solid theoretical foundation and bridging theoretical knowledge with practical application. To this end, computer labs with specialized software connected to the Internet have been established, offering students the necessary tools to acquire and apply knowledge. Classroom lectures are held in department labs to integrate theoretical instruction with practical, hands-on experience.
The department maintains regular contact with industry leaders in animation technology to collaborate on curriculum development, organize scientific activities and art exhibitions, and secure training opportunities for students.
