The President of Princess Sumaya University for Technology, Prof. Wejdan Abu Elhaija, and the CEO of the Jordan Payments and Clearing Company (JoPACC), Excellency, Ms. Maha Bahou, have signed a memorandum of understanding to enhance cooperation between the university and financial companies.
This MoU offers university students access to JoPACC’s special training program, which encompasses four key areas: the research program, the youth creativity in financial technology program, the training program, and the "Fintech Hackathon" program. These components aim to improve students' skills and prepare them for the job market with practical experience and advanced knowledge.
Her Excellency, Ms. Maha Bahou, underlined the critical importance of collaborating with a pioneering academic institution in the field of FinTech, stating: “This partnership is a testament to our commitment to merging innovative FinTech solutions with the academic journey of students. Our goal is to nurture a generation that is not only prepared but eager to transform to the FinTech industry with its innovative solutions”.
Prof. Wejdan Abu Elhaija expressed her happiness with the collaboration and pride in the university’s graduates who now hold important positions at JoPACC. She noted that this partnership is part of ongoing efforts to enhance cooperation with the financial sector, helping to develop students' skills and prepare them for the fast-evolving financial market, which is increasingly integrated with technology. Abu Elhaija also emphasized that this opens new opportunities for students to work on digital financial services and offer innovative solutions to the financial challenges in the labor market.
The signing was attended by University Vice President Prof. Bassam Hammo, President’s Advisor for Student Success and Retention Prof. Abdul Ghafour Al-Saidi, Dean of King Talal School of Business Technology Dr. George Sammour. From JoPACC, attendees included Business Development and Operations Director Lyanah Al-Wreikat, Networks and Infrastructure Manager Mahmoud Althaher, and JOIN program team members Hussam Hammad and Hiba Halasa, who are graduates of PSUT.
