As part of its ongoing dialogue session series, Princess Sumaya University for Technology hosted a discussion yesterday on Fast Charging of Lithium-Ion Batteries. The session was presented by Prof. Said Al-Hallaj, Chairman and CEO of AllCell Technologies LLC, and founder of “NET energy.” Prof. Al-Hallaj, also a Visiting Research Professor in Chemical Engineering at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC).
In attendance at the session were Prof. Wejdan Abu Elhaija, the University President, Prof. Bassam Hammo, the Vice President, Prof. Essam Al-Qaraleh, the Dean of King Abdullah II School of Engineering, along with several professors and university students.
During the session, Al-Hallaj discussed the manufacturing, characteristics, and widespread applications of lithium-ion batteries, focusing on their use in portable electronics and electric vehicles. He emphasized the significance of fast charging and the challenges associated with battery charging, including issues like elevated temperatures, reduced battery lifespan, and environmental impacts. The interactive session featured participants' inquiries, insights, and viewpoints on lithium batteries, as well as collaboration with companies and institutions embracing these technologies.
It is noteworthy that Al-Hallaj has co-authored a book titled "Hybrid Hydrogen Systems" and has authored over forty research papers. Additionally, he holds co-inventorship for eight issued patents and numerous patent applications spanning energy storage and conversion, renewable energy, hydrogen technology, batteries, fuel cells, and water desalination.
