The Princess Sumaya University for Technology team won first place in the fourth Cyber Warriors Competition for university students, organized by the National Cybersecurity Center in cooperation with Al Hussein Technical University, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and the Ministry of Youth. The event was sponsored by SKIDS and supported by DC Company, with over 300 students from universities across Jordan participating.
The competition helps improve university students’ cybersecurity skills and awareness by testing their knowledge through challenges in areas like reverse engineering, digital forensics, and encryption.
The university’s first-place team included Yousef Nahya, Zyad Sharif, Basel Tahboub, and Fawaz Alkhalidi. They were supervised by Dr. Mohammad Ababneh, Dr. Osama Abu Sharkh, and Dr. Firas Al-Ghanem. Student Hamza Noor was a key member of the second-place team.
University President Prof. Wejdan Abu Elhaija expressed pride in this achievement. She said the high-level competition showed the excellence of the university’s students in all cybersecurity areas covered. It also highlights the quality of the university’s academic and training programs, which provide a supportive environment that helps students develop skills and prepare for the job market.
Abu Elhaija added that under the leadership of HRH Princess Sumaya bint El Hassan, the university continues to support and empower students to excel in science and technology.
Dr. Mohammad Ababneh, the winning team’s supervisor, said this annual competition brings together students from all Jordanian universities. It gives them a chance to improve their skills, learn new technologies, and prepares them to work in the field of cybersecurity locally, regionally, and globally.
