The 17th Career Guidance Week was launched at Princess Sumaya University for Technology, including the “My Job from My University” exhibition, with the participation of 35 local and international companies.
The event, organized annually by the Career Guidance Office in the Deanship of Admissions and Registration, aims to open direct channels of communication between PSUT students and graduates and the public and private sectors, present outstanding graduation projects, hold workshops on how to start a company, and teach the principles of dealing with labor market demands.
PSUT’s President, Prof. Mashhoor Al-Refai, said that the University does not simply support its students through to their graduation, but rather stays with them and follows them in their working lives, giving each graduate the opportunity to get a job that suits his ambition and capabilities. He added that PSUT has been working for some time to implement the idea of “My Job from My University”.
Al-Refai pointed out that PSUT graduates enjoy a competitive advantage with many local and international companies, indicating that the percentage of those who obtain a job in the first six months after graduation stands at almost 90%. PSUT has made great efforts to link its specializations with the labor markets and their needs.
The Dean of Admissions and Registration, Dr. Abdul Ghafoor Ahmad Al-Saidi, indicated that the Career Guidance Office provides many opportunities for graduate students to communicate and network with employers and companies, and learn of available job opportunities, as well as guiding them to the positive behaviors that they must adopt, the challenges that they will face, and the skills that they must master.
