Princess Sumaya University for Technology and the United Nations Global Compact Network in Jordan have officially signed an agreement. The university's president, Prof. Wejdan Abu Elhaija, and the network's Chairman of the Board of Directors, Raji Hattar, signed the memorandum of understanding. The MOU aims to strengthen cooperation in areas of mutual interest related to the mission of the United Nations Global Compact in Jordan, promoting cooperative social responsibility.
At the MOU signing, attendees included the University’s Vice President for Administrative Affairs, Prof. Bassam Hammo, the President’s Advisor for Student Empowerment, Prof. Abdul Ghafour Alsaidi, several deans of the university’s schools, Dr. Ola Alhadeed, the coordinator of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at the university, and Aya Alsoki, the Executive Director of the United Nations Global Compact-Jordan
University President Prof. Abu Elhaija expressed the university's commitment to advancing social responsibility and contributing to a sustainable future. Through collaborating with network members, the university aims to exchange best practices, forge partnerships, and work as a team to achieve sustainable development goals. Additionally, the university aims to highlight that students play a crucial role in shaping and promoting social responsibility values within the community. Abu Elhaija also emphasized that students are vital in developing sustainable solutions and innovations that help achieve these goals.
Mr. Raji Hattar underscored the importance of the partnership between the United Nations Global Compact Network in Jordan and the education sector, particularly the strategic partnership with Princess Sumaya University for Technology
Mr. Hattar also reaffirmed the commitment to supporting the network’s initiatives in promoting social responsibility and achieving sustainable development goals. He emphasized enhancing awareness and encouraging students' effective participation in sustainability and social responsibility. Furthermore, he strives to stimulate innovation and develop sustainable solutions that serve society, aligning with the United Nations vision for sustainable development.
