Under the patronage of PSUT president Prof. Wejdan Abu Elhaija, the university commemorated the 55th anniversary of Al-Karama “Dignity” Battle in the presence of the Vice President for Administrative Affairs, Prof. Bassam Hammo, the Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Rami Salem, a number of PSUT deans, and two guest speakers, Dr. Omar Mashhoor Al-Jazi, President of The Board of Trustees of Amman Arab University and Dr. Mujahid Thuneibat, Director of the University of Jordan’s Library, and a large crowd of university students. The event was organized by the Deanship of Student Affairs.
The event was inaugurated by reciting Surat Al-Fatihah on the souls of Al-Karama martyrs, followed by a videos presentation prepared by Musab Al-Farhan and Hamza Nassar which portrayed the details of the battle. Obada Al-Raqab, Saif Saeed, Lujain Sabah, Masara Abu Diab presented a patriotic speech, while Saif Saeed recited poetry that simulates the occasion.
The student, Obada Al-Riqib moderated a session with Dr. Omar Al-Jazi to discuss the nature of that battle between the Arab army and the Zionist enemy, and the sacrifices of the Arab army and armed forces.
On the sidelines of the event event, PSUT president Prof. Wejdan Abu Elhaija inaugurated the Al-Karama Photo Exhibition, in the presence of the Director of the University of Jordan’s Library, Dr. Mujahid Thuneibat. During the exhibition tour, Dr. Al-Jazi commented on each picture of the battle.
The Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Rami Salem, stressed that the university is keen to revive national events that enhance students’ national identity in line with the university's mission to spread the values of belonging and pride in Jordan's glorious history. Dr Salem also pointed out that the university appreciates the sacrifices of the heroes of the Arab army and its dedicated leadership.
Dr. Salem indicated that Al-Karama eternal battle is a source of inspiration and pride for all generations, and a milestone in the national march, as well as a symbol of steadfastness and liberation.
Dr. Salem pinpointed that this morning a group of university students visited to the martyr's shrine, recited Surat Al-Fatihah and laid a wreath of roses on the tombs.
It is noteworthy that the Department of Sports Activity at PSUT organized the Karama Badminton Championship at the level of Jordanian universities, and student Ahmed Al-Nimir presented a Kata show.
