Princess Sumaya University President Prof. Wejdan Abu Elhaija met with a delegation from major international energy companies, represented by Todd Watkins, Senior Corporate Affairs Advisor in the Middle East, and Tamer Salhi, Commercial Manager of Energy Marketing. During the meeting, they discussed plans to boost academic and research cooperation, foster innovation in the energy sector, and prepare students for future challenges. Vice President Prof. Dr. Bassam Hamo and members of the University’s Council of Deans also attended the meeting.
Prof. Abu Elhaija emphasized the significance of crafting academic partnerships with international companies while also stressing the importance of meeting market demands and sustainability goals. These efforts are in line with the vision of HRH Princess Sumaya bint El-Hassan, Chairman of the University’s Board of Trustees, to promote innovation and leadership in energy and sustainable development.
The delegation praised the university’s educational standards and its efforts to elevate education and research in Jordan. They also introduced their company’s energy services, emphasizing their integration with technology and engineering. The delegation also discussed opportunities for practical training for students in the energy sector, enabling them to gain valuable hands-on experience.
The delegation expressed hope that future cooperation would involve research projects to develop new technologies, enhance energy efficiency, and attract qualified personnel.
At the end of the meeting, the delegation was shown a selection of projects prepared by university students in various disciplines, including computer science, engineering, and business technology.
