Princess Sumaya University for Technology presented a 10,000 Jordanian dinar check to the Jordan Engineers Association. The donation, from students and the university community supports the “Together We Support Gaza” campaign initiated by the Higher Committee for Reconstruction of Gaza, comprising the Jordan Engineers Association and the Jordan Construction Contractors Association.
On behalf of the University President, Prof. Bassam Hammo, Vice President for Administrative Affairs, presented the donation to Engineer Ahmed Al-Zoubi, President of the Jordan Engineers Association, in the presence of Dr. Rami Salem, Dean of Student Affairs, Manar Shraideh, Student Clubs Officer, members of Al-Quds Committee at the university, and a delegation from the association.
Engineer Ahmed Samara Zoubi expressed gratitude to the university and its students for their unwavering support. He provided an overview of the association's endeavors since the onset of the Gaza crisis, highlighting the successful fundraising efforts totaling $5 million on the campaign's inaugural day and an additional $1.2 million in the subsequent phase.
Engineer Ahmed Zoubi also mentioned that the association partnered with a transportation company to distribute 11 million cubic meters of water across different areas in Gaza. Additionally, they acquired 7 desalination plants providing Gaza areas with approximately 500 cubic meters of water daily. Efforts were also directed towards installing solar cells on artesian wells, with ongoing work to restore various ovens and bakeries. Additionally, he emphasized the importance of recognizing the collective efforts of official and community organizations in Jordan supporting Gaza, including plans to launch a campaign supplying flour to Gaza.
Prof. Bassam Hammo highlighted the university’s commitment, under the guidance of Her Royal Highness Princess Sumaya, to humanitarian support during crises. He emphasized the role of science as a beacon of hope, providing essential knowledge and tools for peace and relief from human suffering.
Dr. Rami Salem, Dean of Student Affairs, underscored the university’s support for Al-Quds Committee’s initiatives aiding Gaza and Palestine in confronting occupation and challenges.
Dr. Salem also emphasized the significance of fostering teamwork and collaboration between the university and local community institutions to achieve humanitarian objectives and promote justice and peace in the region.
Tasneem Harara, a student and president of the Al-Quds Committee, expressed gratitude for the association’s invitation to participate in the campaign and announced the collection of 10,000 dinars. She emphasized the university’s crucial support, including from the Deanship of Student Affairs, the Office of Student Clubs, and campaign volunteers, in raising funds for Gaza.
