Two teams from Princess Sumaya University for Technology won the second and third places on a global level in the Huawei ICT Competition Global. The competition, held in Shenzhen, Republic of China, witnessed the participation of 150,000 students from 2,000 international universities, representing 130 teams hailing from 85 countries.
The Jordanian team, which won the second place in the computer networking technology category of the competition, consisted of Aws Al Rayyan, a student from King Hussein School of Computing Sciences, Hamza Al Zubaidi, a student from King Abdullah II School of Engineering under the supervision of Dr. Ammar Odeh, and Yazan Al Shneik, a student from Yarmouk University under the supervision of Dr. Ahmed Kleib.
The third-place winners in the Innovation Competition were from King Hussein School of Computing Sciences at Princess Sumaya University for Technology. The team, comprising students Walid Amr, Samer Al Zoubi, and Rakan Armoush, was supervised by Dr. Ammar Odeh.
Prof. Wejdan Abu Elhaija, PSUT President, expressed her pride in the students and their supervisor for their remarkable global achievement. She praised their capabilities, dedication, and the competence of PSUT students. She emphasized the university's distinguished programs that enhance students' scientific and practical skills, enabling them to keep pace with rapid developments in programming and computing sciences.
The Dean of King Hussein School of Computing Sciences, Prof. Ashraf Ahmed, highlighted that this year's competition combined innovation and modern technologies in computer networks. This fosters students' practical capabilities and talents, which are integrated with their academic studies. He also emphasized the dedicated supervision of the school's professors enhances students' participation in various specialized competitions at all levels.
It is noteworthy that in the previous year, students representing Princess Sumaya University for Technology won first place as part of the Jordanian team in the sixth edition of the Huawei Regional ICT Competition 2022, held in Muscat, Oman.
