During the reception for new students for the academic year 2022/23, the President of Princess Sumaya University for Technology, Prof. Wejdan Abu Elhaija went over the university's distinguished achievements of offering quality programs and obtaining international accreditations, hence achieving the university's mission of leadership and excellence.
During the meeting, which was attended by the Vice President Prof. Bassam Hammo, the deans and heads of departments, the dean of admission and registration and dean of student affairs, as well as the directors of the university's units and centers, Abu Al-Haija confirmed that the new students are in the right place at PSUT which will be the beginning of their future and their new path in life.
Abu Al-Haija pointed out that the university is globally ranked among the best 800 universities, and that it has obtained five stars from the most famous international ranking institutions. Its internationally accredited programs enhance job opportunities locally and globally in addition to providing students with opportunities to complete their academic career and enroll in postgraduate programs.
Dr. Abu Al-Haija pointed to PSUT’s adoption of strategic plans that enhance modern teaching methods and practical training, which, in turn, opens the doors of the labor market wide. It also guarantees an infrastructure that represents a fertile university environment that contributes to the graduation of distinguished scientific competencies. Notably, Her Highness Princess Sumaya bint El Hassan, Chair of her Board of Trustees, gave directives on the need for students’ involvement in university life, participation in extracurricular activities, and community service.
The Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Rami Salem, gave a detailed explanation of the tasks and services provided by the Deanship, in addition to a presentation on the extracurricular activities as well as student clubs that students may join to enhance their skills. He also introduced the new students to the members of the University Student Council.
The deans of PSUT three schools gave detailed explanations about their schools, their objectives, the teaching programs they offer at the bachelor's and master's levels, as well as the Ph.D. program at the King Hussein School of Computing Sciences. They also guided students to the methods of communicating with their professors.
The Director of the E-Learning Center, Dr. Adiy Tweisi, gave a brief about the center, and explained how students can log in and navigate through the new university website.
At the end of the meeting, members of the University Student Council and a number of university employees accompanied the new students on a university tour.
