The Queen Rania Center for Entrepreneurship at Princess Sumaya University for Technology, in partnership with Zain Jordan through its innovation campus (ZINC), launches the 15th edition of Global Entrepreneurship Week 2023 in Jordan.
Global Entrepreneurship Week features diverse topics such as environmental systems, education, inclusion, and politics. It runs until the 19th of this month, with 92 partners organizing 660 events both online and in-person across Amman and other governorates in Jordan.
University President Prof. Wejdan Abu Elhaija stressed that the Queen Rania Center plays a crucial role in fostering entrepreneurship, supporting entrepreneurs in Jordan and the region, and making a substantial impact on innovation and the economy in society.
Prof. Abu Elhaija emphasized the university's commitment to providing students and the local community with opportunities to showcase their entrepreneurial ideas and address labor market challenges. This aligns with the vision of HRH Princess Sumaya bint El Hassan, Chair of the University's Board of Trustees, to support the entrepreneurial community and empower young individuals to excel and innovate.
Prof. Abu Elhaija highlighted the PSUT Venture Lab program, a recent initiative operating under the Queen Rania Center for Entrepreneurship. This program is designed to assist university students, equipping them with the knowledge needed to start their own businesses and turn academic projects into practical, productive endeavors. It also fosters the university's entrepreneurial community by providing support, training, expert legal, and financial advice from idea incubation to company establishment, in cooperation with the university's Office of Technology Transfer and Commercialization. This collaboration aims to enhance the community, create opportunities, and boost its members' efficiency.
Mr. Mohammad Obaidat, Director of the Queen Rania Center for Entrepreneurship, mentioned that this edition of the entrepreneurship week offers a range of events, such as lectures, workshops, discussions, and chances to connect and grow professional networks in entrepreneurship and innovation.
Obaidat also mentioned that collaborating with 92 partners from both public and private sectors, including universities, schools, and community members, underscores the importance of strong partnerships to enhance cooperation for economic growth and sustainability.
Tareq Albitar, Director of Corporate Communications, Sustainability, and Innovation at Zain Jordan, emphasized Zain Innovation Campus (ZINC)'s commitment to hosting annual entrepreneurial events during Global Entrepreneurship Week. These activities, part of their ongoing strategic partnership with the Queen Rania Center for Entrepreneurship, will include 30 events this year, focusing on key areas like entrepreneurship, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity. They will take place at ZINC's 8 branches located in various Jordanian universities. These events will play a role in enhancing the skills of students, entrepreneurs, and those interested in entrepreneurship.
It is worth noting that Global Entrepreneurship Week, the world's largest event celebrating innovators and people who create jobs by launching startups, fosters economic growth and prosperity in societies. It does so by organizing numerous events and competitions worldwide, inspiring millions to get involved in entrepreneurial activities.
