Prof. Ahmad Hiasat

Dr. Ahmad A. Hiasat is an academician, a leader, and expert in the fields of electrical engineering, communications engineering, and computer engineering. He currently serves as the Chairman of the National Cyber Security Council in Jordan (since 2023) and a member of the National Council for Future Technology. He is also a Professor at Princess Sumaya University for Technology (PSUT) since 1996, where he also held leadership roles including Dean of the School of Engineering and Vice President of the University.Dr. Hiasat holds a PhD in Systems Engineering from Oakland University, USA (1995), an M.Sc. in Communications Engineering (1988), and a B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering (1984) from the University of Jordan. His early career included service as a Communications Engineer and Officer in the Royal Jordanian Air Force (1986-1993). He served as Chairman and CEO of the Electricity Regulatory Commission (ERC) of Jordan (2011–2012) and Chairman and CEO of the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (TRC) of Jordan (2006–2010). Additionally, he worked as a Part-Time Consultant/Advisor to the Minister of Education (1999–2006 and 2016–2018). Dr. Hiasat has provided consulting services to international organizations and companies, including USAID, UNESCO, Intel, World Link, and others, in the areas of energy, communications, and education reform. He has participated in numerous international conferences, serving as a keynote speaker on multiple occasions.Dr. Hiasat has received numerous prestigious awards throughout his career, including being ranked among the World’s Top 2% Researchers (Stanford University & Elsevier BV, 2020–2024), the Abd Al-Hamid Shoman Award for Young Arab Researchers (1999), and multiple honors for academic excellence at all educational levels, including the King Hussein Award at both M.Sc. and B.Sc. levels.In summary, Dr. Ahmad Hiasat is a highly accomplished academic leader with broad expertise in engineering, cybersecurity, education policy, and regulatory frameworks in energy and telecommunications.
