Prof. Wejdan Abu Elhaija, President of Princess Sumaya University for Technology, and Prof. Mashhoor Al-Refai, Secretary General of the Higher Council for Science and Technology (HCST) and Chair of the Supervisory Committee of the National Fund for Enterprise Support (NAFES), signed a memorandum of understanding to support the 2025 Queen Rania National Entrepreneurship Competition (QRNEC) bootcamp, in partnership with Orange Corners Jordan, and to strengthen cooperation in entrepreneurship and innovation.
The program aims to support young Jordanians and foster Jordan’s entrepreneurial ecosystem. In its thirteenth edition, the competition focuses on the Internet of Things, mobile, and hardware technologies, as well as startups under one year old, entrepreneurial ideas, and unregistered projects that have developed preliminary business models.
The bootcamp is an intensive program that combines in-person and online training, and includes 15 specialized sessions covering topics such as customer development, prototypes, project feasibility, business planning, product design, and team building. It also gives participants the chance to meet experts, share knowledge, and develop their business plans to prepare their ideas for the Jordanian labor market.
Prof. Abu Elhaija said the memorandum reflects the university’s mission to foster entrepreneurship and innovation, and to help Jordanian youth turn their ideas into projects that benefit the national economy. She added that the Queen Rania National Entrepreneurship Competition is a key platform for discovering talent and offering a supportive environment for entrepreneurs from across Jordan.
Prof. Al-Refai stressed that the NAFES fund under the Higher Council for Science and Technology works to strengthen innovation and entrepreneurship in Jordan by supporting youth and their innovative ideas.
The Queen Rania National Entrepreneurship Competition was established to support technological innovation in Jordan, highlights outstanding ideas, projects, and startups, and raises awareness of opportunities in the tech startup sector.
