Princess Sumaya University for Technology achieved remarkable success in the “Capture the Flag 2024” competition held during the Black Hat Middle East and Africa (MEA) Conference in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The event, which attracted the largest number of participants in the history of cybersecurity competitions, saw over 1,000 contestants forming 250 teams from around the world.
PSUT secured impressive global rankings, taking the 15th, 16th, 32nd, 33rd, and 36th places. At the Arab level, it achieved second and third places overall, and first and second places among Arab universities globally. The competing teams included students from the King Abdullah II School of Engineering and the King Hussein School of Computing Sciences, and were accompanied by Dr. Qutaiba Albluwi and Dr. Muawya Dalaien.
This achievement was supported by training programs organized by the Cybersecurity Club over the past year, under the supervision of Dr. Mohammad Ababneh and Dr. Haitham Al-Ani.
University President Prof. Wejdan Abu Elhaija expressed pride in the students, stating, “We are proud of our students for representing the university on a global stage and reaffirm our commitment to supporting talented students to achieve more success locally and internationally, following the vision of HRH Princess Sumaya bint El Hassan, Chairman of the University’s Board of Trustees”.
Prof. Abu Elhaija added that this success reflects the skills of the students and faculty, praising their efforts and the support provided by university staff. She added that such accomplishments strengthen the university’s role as a hub for empowering youth in advanced technology fields.
