The Cybersecurity Club at Princess Sumaya University for Technology achieved remarkable success in the global Hack The Box - University CTF 2023 - Brains & Bytes competition. The team secured first place at the university level in Jordan, second in the Arab world, and twenty-ninth globally.
The competition, conducted remotely over three days on the HackTheBox platform, saw participation from 955 teams worldwide, representing various universities. Featuring 19 challenges across six categories encompassing cryptography, reverse engineering, software hacking, website hacking, and digital analysis.
The team included students Saif Al-Nuaimat, Mohammad Ayman Al-Saadi, Salah Aldeen Al-Ajlouni, Ali Khalil, Ahmed Alawneh, Yousef Nahia, Ziad Al-Sharif, Abdullah Zaid Al-Kilani, Mohammad Madi, Abdul Majeed Bader, Hamza Nour, Ahmed Al-Jundi, Laith Salman, Fawaz Al-Khaldi, Ahmed Obaidat, Basil Tahboub, Jana Falah, Lana Al-Dweik, Nabil Mezyed, Omar Hamada, Saleh Al-Hunaidi, Nizar Al-Daradkeh, and under the joint supervision of club supervisors Dr. Haitham Al-Ani and Dr. Mohammad Ababneh.
University President Prof. Wejdan Abu Elhaija expressed pride in the team's success, highlighting it as another achievement for the university. She underscored the series of accomplishments by students and their supervisors in various competitions, further enhancing the university's esteemed reputation.
The Dean of King Abdullah II School of Engineering, Dr. Osama Abu Sharkh, commended the professional skills of the participating students and their collective abilities in the competition. He also praised the guidance and support provided by the club supervisors, emphasizing their role in fostering student talents and skills in cybersecurity and information technology.
