Under the Patronage of HRH Princess Sumaya bint El Hassan Since 2009… Jordan Concludes Global Entrepreneurship Week 2025 Under the Theme “Together We Build”

Under the patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Sumaya bint El Hassan, President of the Royal Scientific Society and Chair of the Board of Trustees of Princess Sumaya University for Technology, Jordan concluded the 17th edition of Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) under the theme “Together We Build”, organised annually by the Queen Rania Center for Entrepreneurship at the University, in strategic partnership with the Zain Innovation Platform, and with the participation of 23 public and private universities.

The ceremony was attended by H.E. Eng. Sami Smirat, Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship; H.E. Dr Raed Al-Adwan, Minister of Youth; representatives of El Hassan Science City institutions; along with stakeholders from the innovation and entrepreneurship sectors and participating organisations.

In her address, HRH Princess Sumaya emphasised that entrepreneurship in Jordan is not confined to an annual event, but rather an ongoing national journey that has been vibrant since 2009. She stated:
“I am proud to have supported this journey from its earliest days, and to see how it has matured into a nationwide force for creativity, capability and opportunity, empowered by the Queen Rania Center for Entrepreneurship and its close collaboration with universities, industry and government.”

Her Royal Highness noted that Jordan is moving steadily towards a knowledge economy, where research, science, technology and innovation form the foundation of competitiveness. She reaffirmed that His Majesty King Abdullah II has repeatedly emphasised that fostering innovation and entrepreneurship is essential to unlocking opportunities for youth and securing a prosperous future for all Jordanians, adding that Global Entrepreneurship Week represents a powerful embodiment of this vision.

She further explained that the theme “Together We Build” reflects Jordan’s national spirit, as the Kingdom builds across ministries and sectors, builds through collaboration between academia, government, and industry, and builds when institutions encourage creative thinking and when youth are given the freedom and confidence to pursue their ideas. “With this spirit, we strengthen our economy, our society, and our national resilience,” she added.

Her Royal Highness also highlighted that this year’s activities extended beyond Jordan’s borders for the first time, with events implemented in several countries, including Germany, Sweden, Malta, Thailand, Lebanon, Syria, Palestine, Egypt, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia. This global presence reflects the confidence that the world increasingly places in Jordanian talent.

Princess Sumaya addressed young entrepreneurs, saying:
“You are the heartbeat of this movement. Your courage, imagination and determination are shaping the Jordan of tomorrow. Hold on to your dreams, no matter how distant they may seem. Seek knowledge, work with integrity, and remember that collaboration is as important as ambition. Your country believes in you, supports you and is proud of you.

She also pointed to a particularly meaningful initiative implemented this year, where one of the activities organised by BDO reached young people in Gaza, offering training in finance and financial literacy to help them build their capacity and explore new paths, despite the challenging circumstances they face. She noted that this initiative reflects the spirit of compassion, solidarity and purpose that defines Jordan’s entrepreneurial community.

Her Royal Highness concluded her speech by expressing her sincere appreciation to all participating national institutions from the public and private sectors and universities as well as the Royal Scientific Society and Princess Sumaya University for Technology, for their pivotal role in strengthening Jordan’s knowledge economy and advancing its entrepreneurial ecosystem.

During the ceremony, Mohammad Obaidat, Director of the Queen Rania Center for Entrepreneurship, reviewed the main achievements of Global Entrepreneurship Week 2025, noting that its activities extended across several Arab countries and included lectures, workshops, panel discussions, and networking opportunities addressing entrepreneurship ecosystems, education, inclusion, and policy.
He added that over the past ten years, Jordan has demonstrated a strong global presence, recording more than 60,000 success stories across the Kingdom, with female participation reaching 60% of total engagement, and 63% of activities organised outside the capital, Amman.

In his remarks, Zain Jordan’s Executive Director of Media, Communication, Innovation and Sustainability Management, Tareq Al-Bitar, praised the Queen Rania Center for Entrepreneurship for its continued organisation of Global Entrepreneurship Week, describing it as a key milestone anticipated by entrepreneurs and youth across the Kingdom.

He further stated that the Zain Innovation Platform delivered an intensive programme of 40 diverse activities throughout the week, hosted across its branches in Jordanian universities and governorates, engaging more than 1,381 young men and women. These activities covered a wide range of topics, including artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, entrepreneurship, user experience design, digital transformation, and personal and entrepreneurial branding, alongside interactive sessions with experts and specialists aimed at equipping youth with practical skills and modern tools to transform their ideas into scalable and impactful ventures.

The ceremony concluded with the announcement of the winners of the Jordanian Universities Entrepreneurship Competition, held in partnership with the Amman Chamber of Industry. First place was awarded to MargiClear from Jordan University of Science and Technology, second place to heaLXR from Princess Sumaya University for Technology, and third place to Naba from Al Hussein Technical University.
