As part of its endeavor to achieve global prominence, Princess Sumaya University for Technology has become a member of the United Nations Global Compact. This membership aligns the university with a worldwide initiative that seeks to implement specific universal sustainability goals and actions, in accordance with the ten principles of the United Nations Global Compact. These principles encompass human rights, labor, environment, and anti-corruption. By joining this Compact, the university joins a community of approximately 155 international academic institutions, alongside numerous institutions, companies, and organizations from diverse sectors.
Prof. Wejdan Abu Elhaija, the University President, emphasized the significance of joining the United Nations Global Compact. Prof. Abu Elhaija highlighted that this milestone represents a crucial step in advancing sustainable development and showcasing the university's commitment to social responsibility. The university aims to actively contribute to a more sustainable future for Jordan and the world at large. Additionally, Princess Sumaya University for Technology eagerly looking forward to collaborating with fellow network members, fostering the exchange of best practices and engaging in partnerships to collectively work towards accomplishing the United Nations' sustainable development goals.
The United Nations Global Compact aims to expedite and broaden the worldwide collective influence of businesses by assisting them in conducting their operations responsibly through the alignment of strategies and actions with the Ten Principles. Moreover, the Global Compact strategically promotes broader societal goals, including the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, while fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation.
