Princess Sumaya University for Technology (PSUT) secured top positions at the 21st National Robotics Championship, organized by the Arab Robotics and Artificial Intelligence Association and hosted by Applied Science Private University. The event brought together more than 300 participants from over 60 schools, universities, and educational institutions, competing across two main tracks: the Schools Competition and the Universities Competitions.
PSUT teams claimed first place in both the “Industrial Innovation” and “Sumo” categories. The university’s participation was coordinated by Eng. Ahmad Awad. With this accomplishment, the teams have qualified for the Arab Robotics and Artificial Intelligence Championship, scheduled to be held in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, next April.
In the Sumo Robotics Competition, the first-place title was achieved by students Yara Altamimi (Electronics Engineering) and Abdullah Matar (Computer Engineering), under the supervision of Engineer Mahmoud AlShurbaji.
The Industrial Innovation category also saw PSUT take the top spot, with students Hamza Al-Kayyali (Computer Engineering) and Kareem AbuSharkh (Computer Engineering) winning first place. Their project was supervised by Prof. Belal Sababha, Eng. Laith Ta’ani, and Eng. Mahmoud AlShurbaji.
PSUT President Prof. Wejdan Abu Elhaija, stated that this accomplishment reflects the high level of excellence and competence demonstrated by PSUT students, as well as their ability to compete in prominent national and regional arenas. She emphasized that the university takes great pride in its students, who continue to transform knowledge into innovative practical applications.
She further affirmed that this achievement is the result of the vision and guidance of HRH Princess Sumaya bint El Hassan, Chair of the University’s Board of Trustees, who places strong emphasis on fostering innovation, entrepreneurship, and academic distinction, and on investing in young minds by providing an environment that encourages creativity and competitive excellence.
