Princess Sumaya University for Technology (PSUT) has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Jordan Atomic Energy Commission (JAEC) to provide Jordanian youth with high-quality education aligned with labor market demands. The partnership focuses academic research cooperation, particularly in energy engineering, energy planning, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and machine learning.
The memorandum of understanding was signed by His Excellency Dr. Khaled Toukan, President of JAEC, and Prof. Wejdan Abu Elhaija, President of the University, which was attended by the deans of the university’s schools, JAEC Commissioner of Nuclear Power Reactors Dr. Khalid Al-Khasawneh, and Commissioner of Nuclear Sciences and Applications Prof. Dr. Feras Afaneh.
Dr. Khaled Toukan stated that the MoU with Princess Sumaya University for Technology strengthens collaboration between academic and national institutions, fostering research and innovation in fields like energy engineering and cybersecurity to empower youth and support sustainable development in Jordan.
He highlighted the JAEC’s role in using nuclear energy for electricity, water desalination, medicine, and materials science, while focusing on research, academic training, and investments in nuclear and radiation fields.
Prof. Wejdan Abu Elhaija expressed pride in the agreement, aligning with the university's vision. She highlighted the university’s commitment to building partnerships with national and international institutions since its founding under the guidance of HRH Princess Sumaya bint El Hassan.
Prof. Abu Elhaija also emphasized the importance of the agreement with JAEC in advancing academic and research collaboration, particularly in transferring and adapting nuclear energy for peaceful purposes and utilizing local resources through the creativity of Jordanian people.
